  1. Anyone heard any more about this oil? Anyone actually using it? Cheers Mick
  2. Can anyone out there help me with where to buy leading edge tape for composite and timber props? I have bought some before but it was clear, I would much prefer black as it does not show any small marks as much. I also managed to get finger prints on the adhesive side of the clear tape while putting it on, not a good look!!!:censored:thumb_down Maybe Ian might look at adding this to Clear Prop, but not the clear stuff??? Thanks Mick
  3. The strip did dry out enough for us to go ahead. Friday saw a Tecnam, a CTSW, a Cessna 150 and a C182 fly in. Saturday we flew the Sportstar and Skylark in and a DHC Chipmunk arrived. Also a Cherokee 6 flew in. Weather to the south was pretty ordinary which held a few back. Then the rain came down in buckets :hittinghead: Over an inch of rain in about an hour was too much for the already damp strip to take. This basically ended the weekend for us. We still had about 40 people for dinner on saturday night, I am pretty sure that those that were there enjoyed themselves, shame more people could not make it. Even with the poor weather stoppping most from getting there, we still raised about $1100.00 for the Royal Flying Doctors. We will try again in another 2 years. Cheers Mick
  4. Planning on going to Oshkosh too. Just doing our own thing, no organised tour. We are planning on going to "Thunder over Michigan the weekrnd after Airventure. I am mad about warbirds so the chance to see 5 P-47 Thunderbolts airborne together is just not an option to miss. There will also be 4 B-17's, 2 B24's and 3 B-25's. See - http://yankeeairmuseum.org/airshow/index.htm Cheers Mick
  5. After 2 days of sunshine things are looking better at the strip  A couple of campers arrived this afternoon. If anyone wants more info or a last minute check of conditions feel free to call me on 0419 123 933 See Ya There Cheers Mick
  6. Me Too! At least this one has a plane in it.
  7. We have had only some light drizzle today, hopefully the strip will be OK for the weekend.
  8. Peter, What do you mean familiarity time??? If that auto pilot is any good you should not have to do anything:ah_oh:;):rotary:
  9. A full day of sunshine today is making us feel better. If this keeps up all will be good. Kev, we all know that all rental cars are 4WD so you have nothing to worry about:laugh: Cheers Mick
  10. Oh Man!!!! This rain has gotta let up soon, another 15mm since my last post:sad:
  11. Hi Kev, Maybe the good folks at Virgin can tow you in the trike:laugh:
  12. Hi Guys, Just thought I would post something to remind everyone that this is on!!! We have had 260mm of rain since Wednesday!!!!! So rest assured it will be green and not dusty. The drainage is good so as long as the rain stops by midweek all will be fine. Please check the latest details on the website www.goodwinfield.com and please register if you are going to try and get there. We really need numbers to help with catering. See YOU there!!!
  13. I use Mobil Premium, simply because this is the servo nearest to the airfield. I do pump mine through an aviation grade filter though. For those of you who don't you would be surprised how much rubbish is filtered out. I have found Caltex, BP and Shell to be no different in this respect. Cheers
  14. Since August last year I have done about 140 hours in the Skylark and 10 or 12 in the Sportstar. That's with only about 12 hours total in the first 3 months of this year due to crappy weather. Cheers
  15. Here in Hervey Bay we have had 235mm in the last 60 hours. :ah_oh::ah_oh::ah_oh: I have had to put my dogs ( normally never allowed inside ) in the laundry as the verandah where they usually sleep is under an inch of water. The strong winds predicted have arrived in the last hour. I don't think we will be going anywhere
  16. Getting back to answering the original question............. In the Skylark which I fly alot, I do my checks from memory only. In the Sportstar which I don't fly so often it is all done by a printed check list.
  17. This aircraft arrived at it's new home at Maryborough Qld ( YMYB ) last weekend. I am going to dob in the new owner, he goes by the name Skygazer on this forum. Welcome to the world of aircraft ownership
  18. Anyone else planning on going to this? The wife & I will be flying the Skylark down. Cheers Mick
  19. Sportstar 24-4010 is for sale. For details see the For Sale section of this website. She has been on the market for some time now and really must go. Make me an offer, you might be surprised.:ah_oh: Mick Ryan 0419 123 933
  20. So far most of the aircraft that have registered for this fly in are RAAus. So what is everyone else doing for the long weekend? Come and join us to help make this into a great event. Cheers Mick

  23. Guys & Girls, I have just returned from a meeting of the organising committee for this event. It is all coming together well and is looking like it should be a great weekend. This is a really great spot for a fly-in with lots of fantastic scenery to fly over with Fraser Island and the Sandy Straights. Make sure you mark this one in your diary and be there!!!!!! As with most things this event is evolving as we sort out the minor details, please keep a regular check on the website for the latest information and please register if you are planning to come along. Cheers Mick
  24. Hi Ben, Grab a copy of Aviation Trader. There is usually ads for that sort of gear. Good Luck
  25. Hi Troy, I did my training in the Golf, a great and easy plane to fly. Just not quite enough head room for me!!! I'm glad we had the Sportstar before I did my nav training and the flights got longer:laugh:. Cheers Mick
