  1. Good topic Skippy and see the point your making. As we are all educated in the rules and regulations of air law and Everyone is responsible for the air they fly in. The prospective buyer is aware of what he and she can do. I feel not misleading.

Thanks all! @Roscoe, your Camden scenario was the kind of thing I guess I had in mind and I wouldn't mind a chat when I get a chance to sit down with the chart in front of me. @KRviator that also makes lots of sense. I might try one each way. On the fuel scenario, flying from Moruya puts me at the limit of my theoretical (conservative) endurance reaching Camden Haven if I have my 45min + 15% reserve going the longer way around. In reality if I get to a decent altitude and can lean her out I might use a lot less, but I'm being cautious with my lack of experience. WRT Scone, I was just going off the current notam but you've filled that info out nicely KR.

For a bit more background to my question and the discussion on my experience level: Canberra is pretty straight forward, but I've observed that the ERSA and other published info is one thing but the seemingly preferred or "normal" routes and procedures are another. at times.

Flight plan and ring them up it will be ok

    Some advice for the masses

RG400  (teflon ) is nice, but it wont make any difference to your radio signal. Zilch. nada.

Cheap  black coax RG58 from a reputable supplier  is just fine... as long as the maximum operating temperature is < 80 deg C.  That's the limitation .

Advantages of the Teflon cable-  survives very high temperatures, 200C deg all day and night , and 400C deg for a short period.

Also, dont bother with double shielded cable. It's a con unless you are working in a very high tech laboratory. And needs different connectors.

And stay away from single inner conductor cables , always use stranded inner conductor cables unless it doesnt move (or is restrained so it doesnt move)

Dont squash the Teflon cable too much , it will cold flow, given time.

(yes I do this for a living) .

Good to have you here buddy!

  4. I'm having trouble grasping what went wrong there? Did he stall it during an attempted somersault? The aircraft airspeed decay didn't appear to be that bad, that it would lead to a stall.

I wonder if there was a control failure, due to over-enthusiastic movements of the controls?

Looked Stalled at the last frame before it crashed into the ground

  5. Welcome Glen

You realise you will need a PPL and Class 2 or Basic Med Medical Cert to operate in Controlled Airspace

This is in addition to your RAA Cert

Hi Rossco RPL and endorsements will get you in cta. Andy

  6. This is typical CASA hypocrisy. You’ve got gliders operated at Camden by pilots not holding a licence or medical over the township during and outside tower hours. RAAus aircraft of any certification type can operate when the tower is shut, but restricted when it’s active. So CASA is indicating it’s safe for pilot certificate holders to fly their non-certified aircraft without a medical when the tower is closed, but not when active?

Think the tower is active during daylight hours so flying in when it’s CTAF would mean NVFR

  7. How does it contradict what I’m saying ?..?

We are NOT Korea. The Dr alludes to comparing Korea to other parts of the world. The Dr also notes the trouble Korea will have on an on-going basis with their own young people re-infecting all. The virus outbreaks will continue to re-occur. Going off what the Dr alluded to, I’d suggest that just because this week they have an apparent reduction in known cases that the weekly reports will vary wildly as time goes on.

Korea was well prepared for the China virus.

Korea is a small easy to manage country.

Korea is basically of one people - Not a mass of independent minded immigrants.

Korea has a large manufacturing base.

Korea has a large medical related research and manufacturing base.

I’ll repeat - Korea were ready for the virus. So, Korea is certainly a lesson for Australia, though it is not a direct comparison to Australia.

AND - One wonders how Korea will be going in six months time when all those raw materials it depends on are not turning up due to the rest of the world being under a hysteria induced lock-down................?

    .

    Correct on all aspects
