Oakey day Flew over from Caloundra on Sunday in a Texan:cool:, saturday was apparently attrocious with wind and dust. Sunday was a pearler and I also had a ball talking to blokes like Bill, who is part of the spitty restoration and all the locals are so passionate about preserving military A/c. I also bought an excellent DVD " Guardians of the Spitfire", it is a doco that covers this a/c's involvement in Australia and the Pacific- excellent. I got the opportunity to take the hotseat in the Tiger as well- 8 function buttons on each control and multiple EFIS screens with interactive HUD- and that was just the stuff I could understand. Well attended, and a great reason to leave the coast and my Tiger moth flying passenger enjoyed it too.:thumb_up: Well done :high 5:to the MAAF and Oakey locals.

Just landed back this morning after an early departure from what was an excellent weekend at the Wide Bay Int'l airshow. The locals got right behind it and between Jabiru's and GA they probably accounted for 70% of the fly -ins there. Wind played it's hand fairly firmly on Fri and Sat but was shaping up much better this morning. Best display of the weekend must be tied between the thundering Trojan's and the moth's- especially as they managed to keep the tied bunting in tact between the trailing pair for the whole slot- awesome given the potholes in the air all day around the airfield. Most pilots got plenty of X-wind practice and credit to the organisers for switching preference to 25 for the light arrivals on Friday!:thumb_up: Can't speak highly enough of the Jabiru Management and staff who made my pre- purchase visit the clincher and the " back to the nest" dinner was well worth attending as a newbie. CASA:hittinghead: were fairly visible all weekend but not invasively so from what I saw, but as RAA grows, be certain their prescence will be increasingly noticable- part of the price we pay for increasing freedoms. Most displays were consistant with the current front line offerings- but you might need an international off shore account to afford most of them! " as my mate commented" I can go to work and look at a screen that big all day_ I don't need it as well when I go flying!" Keen to hear any other feedback on the thread. Ballpoint.

Hello Everyone- just arrived on site even tho reg'd as lurker for a year. Currently based at YCAB with my second Airborne trike and seriously contemplating purchasing a good used Jab on this site. The Rotax crew want to dis-own me but with over 1000 jab's in service in Oz, and the local backup I would like to think it makes good sense? All the bashing seems overdone and I'm flying the CAB rec fly one in a week to get my head around them. Any thoughts appreciated. Blue skies & bloodshot eyes! Ballpoint.( AKA Neil)
