  1. Now uber has a self driving car that runs over pedestrians...
  2. Forgot to mention, there are lots of ultralights. Not all are 103 legal. Go to the web and sign up with the EAA experimental aircraft association. There is most likely a chapter close to you. They will be more than helpful. Usually have monthly meetings and seminars on different subjects pertaining to interests airbums like us need to know. Be sure to check out fixed wing trikes, powered parachutes, there are back pack mounted, and the ones that are like a three wheel go cart with a parasail. Buckeye builds a nice one. Also gyroplanes.Even if these aren't what floats your boat, they are fun to see. I remember the first time I got to see a gyroplane fly (bout two years ago) Holy Cow! Pretty Cool! Sorry for the long post, seems I'm an airplaneaholic...
  3. A really nice FAR part 103 legal ultralight I was considering till I decided to build from a set of plans I acquired, is a Kolb Firefly. There are others, also kits and plans such as Wings of freedom Flit plane. Aerodrome Aircraft in Missouri builds WW1 replica kits,(AWESOME!!!) also have two kits,The single seater can be built 103 Legal. I think its called Dream fantasy.Lots of good stuff out there. Start exploring and have fun! Where in the US are you? I live in Tyler Texas.
  4. Used to be a weedhopper dealer here 30 or so years ago. I didn't pay them much attention then. I was busy trying to kill my self on motorcycles back then. Weedhoppers got a bad rep here because folks I guess figured preflight was a waste of their time. The Weedhopper is a nice little plane.
  5. I had almost decided to go with Wings of Freedom's Flit Plane. I like it a lot. They have a kit, and plans available. Then the RW9 resurfaced, and sold me. Do check out Roger Mann's website, Ragwing aircraft. He no longer offers kits, but has plans for about seven airplanes I think. He also has plans for boats. Maybe build yerself a boat plane!
  6. YA HOOO!!! That's flying. Have seen replicas of that pretty lill bird. Aerodrome aircraft out of Missouri have a couple ultralight kits very similar to this. One is a two seater. I think they are named Dream Fantasy. They also offer WW1 replica kits that are great. Worth scraping your eyeballs over. They also built the planes for the movie Fly Boys, about the Lafiette Esadrille. Very good movie!
  7. Yup! Got to see one a few years back at a fly in at Gainesville Texas. It was a warm day. The pilot was really pouring the coal to the old bird on take off. She was smoking like a locomotive, and clawing for all the air she could get. For a moment, I swear it flew backwards.
  8. Wow! Nice little plane! Aerodrome aircraft dose a couple kits old style. A single seat and one that let's you take a victim. Wire braced mono wing. Wings of Freedom has a kit (or plans) for a similar plane. All are very nice. Bare bones seat of the pants flying.
  9. The money thing is what I'm working on. I have plans for a RW9 Motor Bipe. I'll post a picture if I can figure it out. I hope to not go over $6K in this plane. The engine needs to be 40hp. and round 60lb. with redrive, muffler, and prop. I hope to find a good used Kawasaki 440A. Would LIKE a Hirth 23. Little 50hp. boxer twin. Weighs in at 71lb. complete. I don't know if this lill airframe will allow the xtra 10 lb. Probly not if I want to stay FAR103 legal. Also a very pricey mill!
  10. Kinda reminds me of my dirt track car days! Rubbing is racing... Y'all be careful!
  11. Name's Charlie Harper. No, not that guy on tv. stopped by to do my first post. I have 60 consecutive trips round the calendar and have decided to finally do something about this flying bug I caught. My step brother is a pilot, I am not. Yet. Financially my flying will be limited to ultralights. FAR103 preferably. At first I was kinda disappointed. till I got to looking at what was available. I LIKE these little planes! If you can build, which I can. You have even more options. I have built flying models for years. I have a pretty good grasp on bow things work. My stepdad still builds and flies rc. as well as my younger brother. I want something that will get ME airborne. I have been in the motorcycle industry for the past twenty years. They're great, but they just crawl around on the ground. I have looked at dozens of really great plans and bought a set from Roger Mann. RW9 Motor Bipe. Next stop is a membership at EAA for some adult supervision!
