I have recently looked at 2 different seven stage, computer controlled, "smart chargers", one I bought new and the smart bit didn't work - it charged flat out no matter what. I returned it for a refund, grudgingly given. The second one was an up-market (expensive) brand 15 amp unit owned by a friend. Same story, no smarts, only full charge.So I still use an old (probably 20+ years) Caddymate charger from a golf cart. All it does is charge at 2.8 amps until the battery is full charge and then reverts to constant voltage float charge suitable for long term maintenance. It isn't "smart", but just works well without the fancy add-ons -i.e. no computer! Just tried and proven analogue control.

I posted the funny to Dazza's comments because I thought he was referring to the Yak pilot and not Callahan.I think Bex's idea is fine, but there is no reason to get personal about Callahan's response as he was just stating it may not work with older eyes. I would go one step further and say even younger eyes may not adjust well; there are young people who have poor eyesight and, like everything physiological, even if they don't wear glasses (and don't need to), there will be differences in muscle reaction/strength, etc, which means for some people, there will be a greater impact and need to refocus than others.

So, it really comes down to, if it works for you and it will make you safer (and, of course, it is legal), go ahead, install a camera and use it. For those where it would compromise safety, then don't.. Simples.

A flying school I used to hire aircraft from sold a Rotax 912 powered high wing not long after buying it. The reason was it had a very poor climb performance sure they could have put a finer pitch prop on it but cruise speed would have suffered.

Pretty heavy empty weight.

Bring in the FAA version of their Psrt 103 ultralight rules. Then you will have affordable aviation in this country.

Of course you can fly it Barry as it is the same aircraft type . The only difference is whether it has numbers or letters for registration.

Can you fly it legally, of course not. So don’t get caught.

Aircraft manufacturers and dealers need a reality check if they think they can flog off two seat aircraft for $280 000 to the masses.

What a rip off, when potentail buyers wake up to thenselves and realise they’re getting bent over a barrel. They will soend their money else where.

I have been following Blackwing on FaceBook since they started. Nice aircraft . Just need to win lotto.

It is long over due for Australia to implement the USA Part 103 Ultralight regulations so people on a budget can buy single seat ultralights and fly them without a licence and not be bent over and have to a member of any organisation.

That will bring ultralight flying back good days where flying was very affordable to the masses.

I find it very hard to believe that they will be selling completed aircraft initially for only $130 000 US. No wonder the have so many $2000 deposits.

Aircraft missing from Murwillumba, an search has been conducted this afternoon. A witness has come forward saying that they saw a wing come off a green coloured plane.

Nothing confirmed at this stage. Was on Gold Coast 9 news.

Was wondering why he hadnt popped up for some time. Think he said he had given flying away?

Not exactly a new design, the Super STOL has been available in kit form and has been flying around for a fair while now.

RIP mate. Steve passed away on or around the 27 th of August. There's information on his send off on his facebook page which is still active.
