Yes Fred, batteries don't last long in the action cameras. I had one that swelled enough to not fit in the slot anymore.

Wayne.

You have to watch the Go Pro Hero 3 wi fi connectivity booby traps,as I found out at Eidsvold. They have blue light flashing on the side of the camera when the the wi fi remote control is enabled,as i use one on my wrist, which enables you to remotly switch from taking pictures to switching back to video mode. The trap is when you are finished and disable the Wi Fi blue button by pressing it till it switches off,you are led to believe that its off,but it is

still running in the background and draining the battery. You have to go to your set up menu and and go to Wi Fi

and switch it off from there.Just thought I would mention it as I would gather a lot of other pilots have had the same problem.

Hmm, sounds like a bit of a distraction Fred . Might be OK fooling around with these things in an Aerochute but trying to sought out these , and other issues at 100 knots , which many aircraft here do, has me a bit concerned . The same goes for all the other info.available to us on glass panels , IPads etc. Many of our (RAAus) aircraft instrument panels mimic those found in commercial aircraft . OK I suppose , if flying IFR at 30,000' and someone else to lookout, but at 100+ knots we cover a lot of ground very quickly . I remember seeing a small white dot during a scan and thought it was a stationary object on the ground . A few seconds later that 'white object' was beside me . Two Jabs with a closing speed of around 220knots (400+ kph) Have to say that I also use Ozrunways but are very much aware of the consequences of 'taking your eye off the ball' . I flew with a chap to Moorabbin a few years ago who spent most of the time trying to sort out the old avionics . I wondered who in fact was flying the aircraft . Maybe I'm just getting too old .... No, I am too old , then again maybe it's the reason I'm old ! As I said Fred ,no reflection on you , in fact I have often looked at the chute launched across the water from me and thought, maybe that's really what I should be doing ...... Bob

Oh christ no Bob,I can assure you my feet were firmly planted firmly on terra firma when I decided to look at this Wi Fi

problem,Sorry when I metioned booby traps I meant the Go pros wrecking your whole weekend when the battery goes flat because of the Wi Fi problem.Seen too many Aircrash Investigation series to know the dangers of distractions in the cockpit.I am not too sure what your glide ratio is on your Jabiru is,but with an Aerochute you virtually drop like a brick with the throttle off 10-1 glide ratio in fact got to be

carefull there especially at 500 feet circuits and momentarily taking your foot off the throttle to do radio calls so other pilots can hear you because the engine is right behind you screaming. No your not too old Bob,you just have good airmanship not to do that.
