Guest courtenay
To which extent is it possible not to cover with fabric (Diatex or otherlike) the fuselage of a Minimax? Is it possible to do it safely, giving it the look of an Airbike?

Spin
Welcome aboard courtenay, I don't know the answer to your question, but I imagine someone here could point you in the right direction, even if it isn't something that has been done before. I am not very familiar with the Minimax, is the fuselage welded tubing? I have vague recollections of a ply skin, perhaps that is around the cockpit? Tex
You would have to do a lot more investigation with the manufacturer, if that is possible. Even though it is just 'material' it does add significant structural integrity to the airframe. It may be possible to overcome that, I don't know how, as you are essentially building and flying a whole new completely different untested plane. Scratch build mentality... FWIW
Guest courtenay
Sensible answer. I'm trying to get into contact with the man (in the USA) who drew the blueprint.
Deskpilot
Why not just build an Airbike?
Guest courtenay
Just because I've got the opportunity to buy a Minimax which is completed but no covering on the fuselage.
