Hongie
Reckon it does if it's more then 15 years old I think it said ? Or the control cables are known to be more then 15 years old... Or not known to be LESS then 15 years old

aj_richo
Only affects fttings that scew into a turnbuckle barrel... not your thimble swages, might eliminate a lot of aircraft you are concerned about. However always pays to check any fitting before flight! All other aircraft at the 100 hourly or annually, which should be done anyway if you're on top of your maintenance

aj_richo
Whats it going to be, the CASA version or the RAAus version? You quoted the RAAus to begin with http://www.raa.asn.au/documents/airworthiness/SB-002-15-08-2012-All-Aircraft-Control Cables.pdf PS I understood a terminal fitting to different to a thimble fitting
Guest Maj Millard
It would be nice if they could be more specific about the particular cable in the photos IE: make aircraft ? local product or import ?...was the cable factory produced or other ?...........................................Maj... Old Koreelah
Can anyone suggest a reliable and simple way I can test whether my own control cables are stainless, and included in this edict? Home-made cables won't be stamped. I have one manufactured SS push-pull cable, but the others are swaged.

eightyknots
a magnet will tell you....well, it wont actually tell you, but it will show you. The grade of "stainless" used is almost non magnetic. It's the swages they are also worried about! ...as it will on copper cables
