Hopefully the endorsement instructed pilots to read the engine operation manual, POH etc, no different to any other aircraft or engine system. Me neither, it has never been a thing in the UK and decades of prior 2 stroke experience probably aided more than any endorsement could when I got my first aircraft with 503, but not everyone who gets a licence to fly has experience of engines of any type and in the case of licence categories that allow owner maintenance some training might well be usefull for them. It's a mistake to assume that just because something is bad or unnecessary for you the same applies to everyone.

I would agree with 2 stroke familiarisation being included in the syllabus but not as an add on you have to pay extra for. Mind you some of the stuff posted about oil ratios shows a definite lack of understanding by some people.
Red Posted May 12 Posted May 12 (edited) Don't ask me I dont make the rules. P.S. Maybe they think more people have experience of 4 strokes in one form or another I really dont know but I'm pretty sure the majority of people under about 40 wouldnt even attempt an oil change on their car these days, the lack of knowledge and experience of anything mechanical amongst the majority of youngsters in the developed world is frankly shocking Edited May 12 by Red 1 1 1

I’m building a Super Kola by Fisher Flying Products kit plane in Brisbane. It’s a two seater all-wood structure with a Rotax 582 reconditioned engine. I was wondering if anyone in Queensland has had any building or flying experience with this kit. When furnished it would look like this photo although this has a half VW engine on it. Regards hi taraz. any build photos coming soon. looking forward to them.
