  1. Yes. After a long delay as a payment bounced so they left them sitting on the desk rather then call, they sent them. They then took almost 2 weeks to arrive and when i was chasing them up to find out if they had actually sent them this time, the guy said it wasn't worth their time to be sending bolts out and to contact someone in the US next time. When they did arrive they had sent the wrong bolts. They sent the adjustment bolts, not the main bolts. I'l just get some bolts locally and make up a face plate i think. Not too hard.
  2. thanks for converting the file. Did try and upload as a Jpg after but had a file error. Back to the original question...anyone know where to get Bolly Prop bits aside from Bolly Australia?
  3. HI Does anyone have a contact for the US agent for Bolly Props? We need some prop bolts and a faceplate and didn't have much luck with the Australian distributor and the USA Bolly Websites look like they were done in 2005. Noticed a couple of Thrusters sold recently for closer to their real value in my opinion. Anyone else notice a swing back to basic flying? Nothing better than rolling a simple aircraft out of a shed and going for a look around i think. Attached is a pic of 5 thrusters put away for the possible flooding over the next few days. Way out of space so probably have to sell the t300 pictured at some time. It is one of our favs because of it's simplicity (close to original) but had to choose one. But not until we get all 5 airborne together once we get this last one back together. shedful of thrusters.heic thrustert300.heic
  4. All good, we know the bolts arent right, hence the question. Good discussion though.
  5. We got bolts with an 8 on them for a Bolly prop hub after being supplied one without bolts with an aircraft and then being sent the wrong bolts by Bolly Aus (sent adjustment bolts.) I assumed the 8 was an AN reference. They fit but after reading this might be time to get better ones. Would anyone know the specs of them so we can order them from Propbits?
  6. Have you listened to some of Have you listened to some of our senators though? Hard to give them much credibility either.
  7. Maybe referring to this study, although it only looks at Jabs up to 2014? https://www.atsb.gov.au/media/5769864/ar-2013-107-final-report.pdf
  8. I believe it is off an X-Air. (thanks kind stranger)....is it load bearing? Obviously be not as strong with the bend right? It does do the job in an X-air so a Thruster i think should be the same.
  9. Has anyone seen a pod/strut combination like this one before?
  10. Wow isnt this an amazing resource....I am not near the aircraft Siso, do you happen to know the size?
  11. The loose elevator skin solved most of it. Still pitches down a bit with power though (most noticeable when low flying). Love the thruster but balanced controls are not their strong suite. They all fly a bit different. Anyone know where I might be able to get the plastic inserts that fit into the back of the wing battons?
  12. Flightrite..just out of interest, is your profile correct and you are a non-pilot? If not, no problems but maybe that is why you fail to see what people see in a cirrus. . RV10 is a great aircraft too, as all the RV's series. But nothing wrong with the Cirrus engine, its just a Continental, solid. The attraction is that that they are comfortable, so flying around with the wife/kids it is a lot easier to get them in a Cirrus in my experience because it feels like a modern car. Little things like aircon, bluetooth. They of course have a chute which i find most comforting when flying at night. Also of course in the event of pilot incapacitation for the pax. I don't want to pull it but to my knowledge there have been no fatalities under the chute and that combined with the fly level button is another way that nervous flyers feel better about "small planes.". If i had a criticism it would be they are a bit boring to fly. Like a Prado of the skies. Airborne, put on autopilot, kick back until you arrive. But for flying you can get fun in other ways. (RAg and string for me). Of course the annual is expensive, usually about $8k for me and no major problems yet after 5 years of use. My maintainer says they have fewer issues than most other a/c they do. Just depends what you want your plane for, how much you can afford, and who you pax are. Most aircraft have their good/bad points otherwise there wouldnt be so many of the good ones. But i love my Cirrus, just as i love RV's, Thrusters and almost anything else that i get to fly in. 🙂
  13. Did you know that a foreign passport is acceptable for the asic application, but an Australian one is not? We need to lodge and original birth certificate every 2 years. Somewhere in Canberra is a bunch of shiny suited bureaucrats having meetings thinking they are doing an important job preventing terrorism by coming up with this rubbish.
  14. If memory serves me right it used to be CASA who issued them and so it was their baby, they have just handed it off so they can concentrate on new embuggarances. Who appoints someone as authorized to check an ASIC card? Is it the Dept of Infrastructure"? Never been checked so not sure. (Thing is purposely designed to annoy people surely...for Veritas at least, "Original Birth Certificate" every 2 years. As if it has changed since the last 5 times i submitted it. Clowns along with Border Farce at airports."
  15. Don't want a twin piper. Thruster Territory there, not Camry territory.
  16. Looks like we won't be making Parkes on Sat. Looks a bit breezy on the forecast (doable) but one of us has to be at work Sunday morning in Ballina. Maybe we could have a bit of a fy/drive in at Tullamore or half way at Forbes or somewhere at sometime.
  17. These ones are in Tullamore NSW.
  18. Sounds good. Will you be staying there? Only one has VHF at the moment and I haven't checked it, that may be the only issue with being in a flyin unless we meet somewhere outside the CTAF and fly in company.
  19. Brendan's Thruster has a new home for now. We have 4 which is probably one too many but for now its great as we have the room. Two 500's and two 300's. Be nice to have some visitors sometime to see how many we can get in the air at once. It is near Tullamore NSW and lots of nice dirt strips around. The interesting thing is how different they each fly. The T300 pictured flies very nicely, except when pulling the power in the flare. The first few times it almost caught us out in how quickly it ran out of the desire to remain suspended. That is compared to the other Thrusters which really says something. It may be because the skins are not as tight as the others. Still nice though. Engine runs beautifully. It has a primer which is a great idea. One T500 tends to roll into turns more than the other but they both fly nicely (for a Thruster.). The last t300 we still haven't figured out yet. It is a very tidy machine but it pulls downward when under power. More than what is comfortable. Now we have an additional T300 to compare it to and a certified test pilot, we might be able to find and correct it. Everything seems okay....C of G, aileron droop, angle of tailplane. But someone has done something and it has messed it up. As for a training machine, i can see the benefits. They really encourage you to be watching your airspeed and attitude. However an instructor would need fast reflexes or there must be some bouncing i would be think. t300brendan.heic
  20. One of the T500's we have also has the hole. Ours is a baggage compartment. You can just make it out in the pic below. Be great to rescue the one above.
  21. That is the fun of a Thruster. They are a bit of a pig and there are far more comfortable aircraft to fly. Sort of like there are far better bikes than Harley Davidsons. In addition to their famous glide, they want to roll into a turn sometimes. Even wheeling it on is a challenge at least for me. But if it was comfort and ease then we would all be flying a savannah. Pulling a Thruster out of a shed on a still morning or evening and going for a dusty noisy blast is great fun.
  22. This one was made airworthy in the UK? https://www.europlanesales.com/aircraft-for-sale/pilatus-built/ Original avionics which are a bit below par nowadays.
