  1. Hey Franco, have a close look at the wing (count the ribs), a friend of mine has a WB Drifter that goes faster than everyone else's, the only difference we can find is that he has 12 ribs (battens) each side rather than the standard 9. The shape of the wing seems much better than the standard.

Mine has the extra battens, I don't think it goes any quicker...... That's what the Rans is for.

  2. Two of my longest flights in my Wire Braced Drifter, all at 50 knots through the air.

7.6 hours (just under 400nm) Boonah to Narromine with stops at Inglewood and Warialda, "Lynden" (15nm west of Gunnedah)

6.3 hours (265nm) "Lynden" to Boonah with no stops. (With my long range tanks fitted, I have 110 liters usable)

I have plenty of flights of over 4 hours.

  3. "you can't fly them in windy days, you won't enjoy it in winter"

Thanks FT, I didn't know that.

Pity that I didn't know that back in 1999 as I wouldn't have "suffered" in my Drifter for the last 1100 hours over the last 17 years. I guess that there mustn't have been many windy or cold day.

    danny_galaga I would try Clifton http://loneeagleflyingschool.org.au/

  4. Hi all,

Knocked off early today, meant to mow the lawn but went for a quick fly first.

If you know Gatton Airpark you may notice something strange in this photo....

Yes, the windsock is pointing straight down the strip!

  7. Weather may have played a little part in that? I know I wouldn't have gone that way from here Friday afternoon. Otherwise that does sound disappointing especially considering how many were saying they were going to prove how much better it would be:stirrer:

Myself and three others got as far as Gunnedah on Friday, still there now.

  8. Hi all,I've only just joined the site, but I've been with AUF/RAA for over 10 years, and GFA for about 12 years before that.

I fly Jabirus & Drifters in SE QLD.

    Take care and fly safe,

  9. Thankfully it looks like normal service has been resumed (or nearly resumed) on the registration front, and the hysterical accusations and name calling has been shown to be "a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing" Which is good thing, because it means that I will be able to register my Thruster when it arrives at christmas. I was assigned my registration number today by Caitlin - 28-8249 ! I am going to give this number to the sign writer, and I was wondering if anybody can give me some advice as to the materials I should specify, for a fabric wingThanks

Has you registration been processed yet ?

I paid online and emailed all of the photos they may need over two weeks ago, but my rego still has not been processed, and it expired on Friday.

Your quote "a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing" seams to be a more accurate description of our current Executive and former CEO.

And the first part of your quote ("a tale told by an idiot") Is a very accurate description of the email that Gavin Thobaven and Myles Breitkreutzare trying to circulate. Their names definitely need to be added to the "incompetent" list.

  10. No the flying schools didn't cause this, neither did the members with grounded aircraft, neither did importers or manufacturers, so do you really wantto go to the end of the line, being a fully paid up member of raa.? I hope your local flying school appreciates you and your fellow club members support, perhaps the will show their appreciation

by giving you all a free flight occasionally while you are still waiting.

I am at the bottom of the list. To quote one Board Member "This is the S**t stirrer from Boonah" (I know you were only joking Mike)

Ian "Groogy" McGregor wont accept money for BFR"s as it is. And all I do for him is mow some of the common areas for him.

So yes let them go first.
