  1. Caution Ahlocks and aviation PC alert. this posting contains reference to short landing, horse, train, plane, submarine, persons of asian extraction, and may cause offence to persons of SBS disposition. On Tuesday,, Febuary 17, 1942 Hidey’s brother John’s birth date, Nobuo Fujita took off and flew a reconnasissance flight over Sydeny harbour and by 7.30 am had landed, disassembled his aircraft and had it stowed in the watertight hangar of his submarine I-25. Now that was pretty impressive short takeoff, skyrangering and landing! And all done without the benefit of a Rotary axe, nor acknowledgement of Victor one airway. Hidey is seriously upset that the incident with the horse should have been alluded to and does suggest that he who suffers from a deficiency of socks have all his travelling aspirations be henceforth confined to the horse iron. Thus when confined to the rails straight and narrow he will be no longer able to ………

Today Darky is at work But amongst the NES she does still lurk To get her revenge upon our Ahlocks By stealing his favourite pair of socks At least he gets to keep his jocks Pity about his flowing locks That once did grace his cheerful visage Before the perils of senior age Let Darky snitch his mis-matched socks So that now upon a stormy night He……

  9. By day, or on a cloudless night, a pilot may drink the wine of the gods, but it has an earthly taste; he's a god of the earth, like one of the Grecian deities who lives on worldly mountains and descended for intercourse with men. But at night, over a stratus layer, all sense of the planet may disappear. You know that down below, beneath that heavenly blanket is the earth, factual and hard. But it's an intellectual knowledge; it's a knowledge tucked away in the mind; not a feeling that penetrates the body. And if at times you renounce experience and mind's heavy logic, it seems that the world has rushed along on its orbit, leaving you alone flying above a forgotten cloud bank, somewhere in the solitude of interstellar space. — Charles A. Lindbergh, 'The Spirit of St. Louis,' 1953.
  10. We are all pirates at heart. There is not one of us who hasn't had a little larceny in his soul. And which one of us wouldn't soar if God had thought there was merit in the idea? So, when we see one of those great widespread pirates soaring across the grain of sea winds we thrill, and we long, and, if we are honest, we curse that we must be men every day. Why not one day a bird! There's an idea, now, one day out of seven a pirate in the sky. What puny power a man can attain by comparison. Compare a 747 with a bird and blush! — Roger Caras, 'Birds and Flight,' 1971.

  13. Within all of us is a varying amount of space lint and star dust, the residue from our creation. Most are too busy to notice it, and it is stronger in some than others. It is strongest in those of us who fly and is responsible for an unconscious, subtle desire to slip into some wings and try for the elusive boundaries of our origin. — K O Eckland, 'Footprints On Clouds.'

  19. be the precipitate cause of a dramatic increase in both PRS and HABE (Phart retention syndrome, hot air balloon emulation) which will in turn lead to a serious political challenge in the form of a nation wide ban on toilet-seat-lowering in protest. Forget Copenhagen, Christmas Island or the Indonesian solution this will play right into the hands of the other side who already have a secret strike team in training at an undisclosed ( even to subrollas ) location in the Middle East where they........
