Minutes RAAus Feb 2011 Board Meeting Synopsis
Owi replied to Admin's topic in AUS/NZ General Discussion
Yenn, I'm also a "youngster" and I fully support your view. I think that the ruling was not properly thought out. A more stringent medical check is far more valid than checking whether you still know how to fly. Unless, of course, you develop alzheimer's suddenly and forget which way the throttle works! Cheers, -
I wouldn't want to be the Comair crew. Looks to me like they weren't properly clear of the boundary. Anyways, the enquiry will find out who should take the rap. Might be the ground crew?

Hey, I just took a look at the payment link again today. It's not working. Strange because I visited it last week and it worked but didn't go through with completing it. Anybody from RA Aus site admin know what's up with this server?
-
This may be a little old but I was forwarded this fascinating link about the current generation Zeppelin in the USA. Looks like a great way to spend a couple of hours. http://home.comcast.net/%7Ebzee1b/Zeppelin/Zeppelin.html Enjoy.

I received a letter from RA AUS reminding me to renew. It included several options to pay and the link above for those of us who like to do their transactions online. Maybe your letter got lost?
-
I just received my kit in the mail the other day. Quite happy with it. It has some decent material too: larger maps of the major aerodrome layouts and a simple kneeboard. Good booklet with useful info on flight planning too. Well worth the cost of postage.

Your preferred crosswind landing technique?
Owi replied to Gnarly Gnu's topic in Student Pilot & Further Learning
Thanks, Evan. That's a great vid. Ironically, I've just joined AOPA and am sifting through training emails from them. I haven't received my first mag yet, so that's going to be another in the "to be read" pile I've got going. Cheers, -
Your preferred crosswind landing technique?
Owi replied to Gnarly Gnu's topic in Student Pilot & Further Learning
I'm still learning the ropes on crosswind landings so hopefully these opinions will help me. So far, I've done the crab and align method with... lets say "interesting" results. -
If you're going to Melbourne via Nowra, you may want to stop at the Fleet Air Arm Musuem there. It has a great selection of old Naval and other aircraft and fascinating exhibits too. Sorry, the link to their website is dead, so no point posting it here. Cheers,

A wife asked her husband to describe her. He said you are " A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K " She asked "What does that mean?" He explained : you are Adorable, Beautiful, Cute, Delightful, Elegant, Foxy, Gorgeous and Hot. She said "that's so lovely - how about I, J and K ? " He said - I'm Just Kidding. Husband is still recovering.

Hey Russ, They had a stand at NATFLY 2010 and were demo-ing them to any who were interested. Seemed OK in theory but I had no need for them so didn't look very hard. Perhaps they'll be at NATFLY again this year.
-
Hey dazza, If you submit a formal complaint against any one of them (you must have details), anybody else who checks the record from then on will see that you may report them and will likely steer clear. Cheers,
-
Clearly an un-informed journo with an ambition to get a sensational story in. Or maybe that was the plan? Never mind the boring truth.
-
Heh-heh, I already did that a month or so back and am still busy going through the material. This time I only wanted this kit, but I checked on the other stuff while there and ordered the pilot's maintenance guide too (just about the only useful thing left I didn't yet have). Cheers,
-
I ordered mine within minutes of receiving the email. Cost of postage only - seems a bargain for something like this. Way to go, CASA! Let's see more of this.
-
Mate, Put your phone numbers on the government's "Do Not Call Register". That'll slow them down at least. Since I did, I hardly get any more of these cold-calls. Cheers,
-
Hey all, Just a couple of ideas... The maestros at OrbX/FTX have been working on a J230 for a while. Not sure where it is in the development phase now. Considering the quality and reputation of their work (I have bought several of their scenery products), so I'm eagerly awaiting the release of this software Jabi. I also have Ant Lynch's Tecnam Sierra which is a beaut. Cheers,
-
Oooh. Ozrunways, you've just given me goosebumps! I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this!
-
Hey mates, I had my iPhone with me last year. I use Optus and, if I remember rightly, I had no 3G reception while there. So, unless they've done some upgrading to their 3G coverage, Optus is a no-go at Temora Aerodrome. Maybe call one of the locals and ask them about 3G reception?

Camping at Natfly Temora when arriving by car
Owi replied to David Isaac's topic in Trips/Events/Seats
G'day fellahs, Do as I did and book your camping from the good folk who manage this website: http://www.temora.com.au/ Look on the right and fill in the criteria for the accommodation you want (Caravan Parks and Camping) and then hit "Search". Choose from "NATFLY 2011" (underwing parking) or "Temora Airfield..." according to your prefs. Cheers, -
Erm, I think it was supposed to read "FLEA" market ? Or have I just not been exposed to enough Aussie aviator lingo yet? Good stuff, by the way, Cazza. Can't wait to get on down there.

F-35 Take off ( Read First)] WATCH THIS---UNBELIEVABLE
Owi replied to Thruster87's topic in Aviation Enthusiasts
Oh, come on people! This is a simple piece of hi-def animation, they do this in movies and cut-scenes in many games. No chance that will happen for real. Are there people out there who really believe some can run up walls and over bamboo forests, a-la "Crouching Tiger..."? Crikey. -
Groete, Jabbawok. Welcome to these forums. Yep, the coastline of Southern Africa - from Maputo to Luderitz - is full of fascinating things to see from the air. Good thing the SP is pretty frugal on fuel, eh? Geniet dit!

Nice pics, mate. I was there too and thought it was a fairly good show. Took lots of my own pics but haven't had a chance to sort the good from bad yet. Can't wait for NATFLY 2011!
