  1. Thanks for the update and looking good Steve. No worries with prop clearance in the paddocks eh.
  2. Yep 'm in the bald as a badger category, so we're like awesome sex machine right.COOL But a the end of the day I gotta find a way to protect the baldy. Am also thinking about a blind set-up as well tornado. Thanks Skee, there a shop in town that sells 3M products so will have a look.
  3. Thanks for the offer Fly_tornado. Rang a local car tinting mob and he said that when lexan gets hot it gives of a gas and plays havoc with the film and can also send it milky in colour. Will ring someone else Mark and cheers.
  4. Apparently you can't tint Lexan which I was hoping to do to the lexan that goes above your head to cut some of the heat and sun out. Now I was wondering if anyone has heard of Nightshade spray paint which you can spray on to give the lexan a darker look ?
  5. Hi Ian and welcome, I'm down Lismore way and occasionally fly up to Glen Innes or Tenterfield and might drop in one day, especially when I finish building my Savannah
  6. Hi Joe and welcome, there's a mob in my area that teaches rotary (Lismore) and been playing with the idea of going up in a whirly bird to see how it compares to fix wing:smile:
  7. Welcome to the forum Kn and plenty of info here and enjoy the build, will look forward seeing the progress photos as it takes shape.
  8. Been a while since I've posted with a lighting strike hitting a tree in our yard and taking out the phone and 3 computers in the process, so here a few photo's of the progress which has been a little slow lately with a lack of time. Just started the wiring which I was never looking forward to and usually dos my head in but slowly nutting it out. Actually the wiring harness seems to be well thought out and not as scary as I thought. Cheers guy.
  9. You seem to be powering along Lyndon and it is quite addictive seeing things take shape and forgetting about the going on's in the world and those around you:smile: . As Rankamateur said if you haven't yet then get your hands on plenty of Cleco's. I had my whole fuselage cleco together before I started with the riveting in case of any unforeseen problems.

  11. Will look forward to watching the progress and the thrill you will feel in watching it develop and take shape.

  13. Some people just won't let it go no matter what. Ho hum.
  14. Yep and sometimes you got to put some things in the hard basket and go with simplicity. It's a nice thought modern technology and better fuel economy but at what expense.
  15. I'm not a very patience bloke by all means and been about 2 months since I first started taking bits of my Savannah S that I'm building to the spray painters and in polite way telling them to hurrying along but given up on that idea, as decided when its finish it will be worth the wait cause F*#k it's going to look good. Well I hope Love the site Ian:score 010: And of cause i gotta show my dream machine off again:smile:
  16. I guess after a New motor is release like the 912is it takes a while for it to flow on into Kit form as a option to UlS
  17. I did have it in my heart to fit the 912is but when it came to the crunch the extra dollars for the motor and not really being able to use the exiting instruments and wiring that is supplied with the kit cause it's gear up for the ULS. So then having to go glass panel which I had intended but the work involve starting from scratch and the cost it seems I was starting to feel overwhelmed and opening a can of worms me thinks. Not to mention modifying the cowling to suit the 912is and also learnt that the return fuel lines would not cope with 912is and having already install the lines in the wing so it was all weighting against me and the extra time and brain matter to nut it out was becoming beyond me. Cowling and fuel lines would have been easy enough to change but the overall picture of the 912is was not. If the kit was catered for the 912IS then different ballgame.
  18. It has to be dip for a period of 10-15 mins . A chap I know dip all the smaller bits in a wheelie bin and the sheeting he just made up of of framing pine an area big enough to accommodate the sheeting which was line with black plastic. Just notice Thruster has already anwser your question.
  19. THE Fuselage is back at home if that's what you meant. When I pick up a finish part i leave the spray painters with more bit's to paint. It's been an on going slow process.
  20. Living up Darwin with the summer humidity I would recommend Alodine all he parts for peace of mind but it is a labour intensive job. It you don't then at least use Cromate undercoat primer. Here's a couple of photos after parts have been dipped.
  21. Thanks Steve, Do you know if Whirlwind have a agent in Oz or you deal directly with them in the US ?
  22. Thanks Kyle and my bad as I meant ground adjustable propellers. Peter at Bolly did say they have scraped the inflight adjustable idea as it was becoming to hard work dealing with and getting approval with Casa.
  23. The fuselage just leaving for the Spray painters, this was 3 weeks ago and was told it should be ready to pick up tomorrow so pretty excited. It's been a painful run dealing with the Spray painters as it will take longer to get it painted that it took me to build it to this stage. Maybe I just need to take a chill pill I have the UlS Rotax arriving next week and wondering what props people are running in the Savannah's ? I have inquired about the Bolly In-flight adjustable prop 70 inch= better climb or the 66 inch Bolly with better cruise speed
