  1. Hi Mark, Scouts sound good, but I've organised the Board Members to do this run. I'll chase the scouts next year. We will have two 20 litre containers and one 10 litre container that can be borrowed for this purpose. They will be available from RA-Aus HQ. You leave your license as collateral. Thanks for the suggestion about the steps and funnel. Consider it done!! Cheers, Carol
  2. Morning all, About Fuel.... If you are flying to YTEM for Natfly, there is fuel at Narromine, Forbes, Griffith, Narranderra so you can top up before you arrive. There will be plenty of fuel at Temora, at its normal price - NOT jacked up for Natfly. To access this fuel, you need a master card or visa card WITH A PIN NUMBER. It does NOT take carnet cards. If you don't have a pin number, cash will do. Or we can use our fuel card and you can pay us with VISA or Master Card. It's a bit more work and time, but we have the technology. We will also have a MOGAS Express, a ute that will take mogas flyers and their fuel containers into town and back. That's the latest. Cheers, Cazza

  4. Hello airmen, Only 6 more weeks to Natfly. Dick Smith is DEFINITELY coming this year to give a session on his exploits and present scholarships to worthy recipients. Camping: There are heaps of campsites available on the field. No powered ones, but plenty of space for unpowered campervans and campers. dNew shower and toilet blocks are going in. THere will be more than 20 showers and toilets. There are also a dozen powered sites in the town caravan park (less than 5 minutes away from the airfield). Ring Natalie on 0418780251. HomeStay, Plenty of home stay available. If you haven't tried it, you should. Generally an old couple with plenty of bed rooms cause the kids have left the nest. THey are always quiet, clean, and cheap. Program looks fantastic. Come and join us. Carol Richards SAAA, ASRA and the Powered Parachutes will be on the field in force.

  6. Hey burbles1, Great minds think alike. John McCormick has been invited to Natfly to address the members, or to just hang out and enjoy the excitement. It would be good if he came. Cazza
  7. hello concerned pilots. I think RA-Aus has to be vigilant so we are not caught with our proverbial pants down. Foirtunately, Jim Coyne, the new manager of the Sports Aviation Sector at CASA is coming to Natfly at Temora and he is addressing these very issues you have raised from the white paper. Come on down (or up depending on where you live) to YTEM at Easter and meet the man who has the answers we all want. Cazza
  8. Hi Thomas, I read about you in the latest RA-Aus mag. No we can't help you with your ppl, but if you ever get to Temora, I will for sure shout you some accommodation and a meal. Cazza
  9. And the answer is this. If you are given, say, $1,000 and you fly that much, then we pay the FTF. If you haven't received your pilot certificate by that time, then you haven't finished. Noone has to pay it back. On the other hand, if you aren't working hard and don't spend it all, after the end of that year, you won't get it all, unless there were extenuating circumstances. Hope that's clear. Cazza
  10. Tommo, Have you finished your training? If not, why not apply again? We have more money, thanks to the Grant I got from Airservices.l Cazza
  11. Hi Darky, If there are things about the application form that are unclear, then you should ask for clarification, just like when you are training and the instructor says something that you don't understand. You see, the scholarship is for young people, so we really do not want to have any ambiguities, we want to try and help you put in the best submission you can and hopefully be successful. Otherwise volunteers like me wouldn't spend so much time and energy trying to set up a program and get it funded. Yep, we ask the CFI to write the report after full discussion with your instructor. This is to protect instructors that have more than one student applying and may have difficulty being completely unbiased and would like some assistance in making a fair judgement. Also the money is actually paid to the flight training facility so the CFI has to be involved in the process. How do we assess need? Yep, we trust you to tell us the truth and your referee reports and the CFI report give the committee a pretty good picture of you as a person. We don't want bank statements, we don't want to make you or your family embarassed. Yes, theoretically you can ask your instructor to be a referee and there is no reason why the instructor can't put in a report as well as the CFI - but others who have known you longer can give us a better picture of how you operate as a person. Any scholarship assistance probably won't see you through your pilot certificate, but any training you do will be paid to the FTS regardless of if you finish or not within the 10 months. But if you don't spend it all, well then you have to ask the committee for special consideration. This program was designed and is administered by volunteers, and our only consideration is to try and help as many young people as possible get into the air. So if you have questions, ask. Easy right? Cheers, CAZZA (better known as Dr Carol Richards, Chairman of Scholarship Committee)
  12. HI Storcy Neil, When will you and your builder mates arrive in YTEM? I just need to know the day and morning or arvo. Contact me on my mobile, the number is in the mag. Cazza
  13. Hi Stan, welcome. A couple of years ago I picked up my Jab from the factory and few her down to temora. So I remember stopping at Dalby, so I guess I have been over the area where you are. Love farmers that put in strips. When I am flying along, I am always looking for a good place to land if the fan stops. Makes me happy when I see a farm strip of any description. cazza
  14. Welcome Bradley. Nice skyboy. WX at Caboolture would be different than Darwin? Cazza
  15. Welcome landcp. What are you hoping to fly? CAzza
  16. Yenn, Sorry you won't be able to make it. I think it will be full of things to see and do and you won't be bored or sorry if you do manage to come, or else I'll shout you dinner. Cheers, Cazza
  17. Hey Storchy Neil, I have a hangar for you and your builder mates. Will you all be bringing your hand tools? Guys here are a little reluctant to hand out their stuff. Plenty of power points and light and hopefully I can make a feature of the project with plenty of progress announcements! Looked up the wallaby on the net, looks great! Cheers, Cazza
  18. Hey Neil, Congrats! I didn't think it would happen. Will work harder now to get a hangar. Cazza
  19. Lyle, I will have a look around and see if I can find someone with sufficient expertise. Cazza
  20. Peter, Done!! Have organised a session with a couple of people who know a lot about glass cockpits and they will show you what they do and why and give you the good oil on benefits and downfalls. Cazza
  21. Hi David, DONE! A session on getting the most out of your Garmin 296/396/ and how to download the latest software has been organised. It will run twice, once on Friday and once on Saturday. The presenter will bring "notes for beginners" on CD and participants will receive the good oil on CD at the end of the session. (How am I doing so far?) Cazza
  22. Storchy Neil, What a great idea. I will look for a hangar and will you get together a team and drive this amazing initiative? Hopeful Cazza
  23. Hi Tangocharlie123. You won't get shot, but we try not to charge for sessions unless we have to buy food. Your mate at Ballarat sounds interesting. Maybe he would come and do some sessions and bring brochures and generate some interest in training with him as a result of his sessions? Cazza
  24. Thanks John. I have scheduled you on Friday morning, April 2. You'll read about the session in the magazine in February. Check in with me when you arrive in Temora and let me know if you have any problems and can't make it. My details are in the magazine under Board Members in NSW (Carol Richards). Cazza
  25. Hi John, A great idea. I can schedule it no worries. Would you mind putting up your hand to facilitate the session? If so, what day are you arriving in Temora? Cheers, Cazza
