  1. Yesterday - Saturday a sunny August day for a change - saw nine aircraft from the Geelong Sports Aviatots leave YLED Lethbridge for a flight to Ararat. After a filling lunch at a nearby roadhouse an extensive an informative tour of the gliding facilities followed. Tempting to take a flight
  2. The quality of the new hangars is amazing with owners heavily investing in their hangars. The freehold ownership obviously allows owners total freedom in their hangar... There is a hangar site from the first round still for sale. The big plus here now is the high quality of grassed areas, hangar roadways and gardens around. Lethbridge now has the largest fuel storage facility in the area. Fuel includes; Avgas, Mogas and Jet fuel... The airfield becoming a stop off and holding field for emergency fire, ambulance and large helicopters.... SO THATS AN UPDATE.
  3. Yes - we are fortunate as the field started off totally private with a number of hangars for TNT. Then the owner sold off the first 20 sites. Small the hangars today. There are two addition stages with 40 hangars on dale shortly.
  4. Yes your right as I re watched it a little more closely. Maybe the fuel OFF position was rectified.? Certainly lucky that the big king bed mattress absorbed some of the impact ..
  5. A recent article in the Geelong Weekly Review highlighted the growth expected in the area. A little hard to read here but The Geelong Weekly Review July 21 - 27th page 14 and 15 has the full story Just open the current edition as it appears in the top left corner - scroll through to the pages 14 and 15. The Geelong Weekly Review edition 21 -27 July 2016 is found in search .
  6. Hi all, A few photos on the huge growth that is taking place at Lethbridge above. And airport owner Gary on the left in one of the hangars... I'll update the Thread over the next weeks as five new hangars start. Recent announcements have included huge 50m X 50m+ size hangars going in at the east end of runway 28. These hangars will be complimented by adjoining 20m X 20m workshops and assembly hangars with private taxi ways. Huge fuel bowsers are going in this week seeing; Jet, Avgas and Mogas available on Carnut and credit cards. These will be fully operational by the end of the month. And 14 new hangars have gone up in the last twelve months on purchased hangar freehold sites, with the average size of 20m X 20m for each. Two new land releases will be announced shortly with sites selling freehold last year for under $90,000 depending on position. A lot of work around the entrance with new fencing, signs a large tree planting has visitors wondering if they are entering a private resort. Not to mention the acres of manicured mowed grass around the new hangars. Well worth a visit..
  7. One of the new Lethbridge Airpark hangars. It's well worth a visit to see just what's happening at YLED. Club BBQ lunch every Saturday. The YLED airpark Lethbridge is growing rapidly with 14 new hangars up in the last 12 months. A recent meeting indicated four super size hangars are going in over the next three months. One is about 50m X 60m with three adjoining nearly as big. There's three other hangars similiar to this photo starting this month - just waiting on the rain to stop. The lethbridge Airpark owner has indicated a further 40 plus sites will be released shortly. Freehold sites sold last year for under $100,000 with hangars around $140,000 being built. The 14 hangars built are all around 20m X 20m and hold six aircraft each. Some have offices and workshop facilities. As Lethbridge is close to Ballarat it may be a good alternative - not to mention not having to share airspace and circuits with overseas students whom have some difficulty. I've heard rental amounts of $50 to 70 per week being offered around...
  8. A guess ... Engine failure - fuel? .... etc. ect etc A run up and taxi just about drains lines from the tank and carbs..
  9. Certainly a wake up call for all of us - exceeding in some instances both our own and the aircrafts capabilities. After brief a discussion here, a comment was made regarding police releasing their findings on fatal road accidents to drivers. Would it make us/them aware of possible dangerous situations we could encounter on the road. Mmm just thinking .... Sad to read about the loss of life and any aircraft accident. Thanks for sharing as its started a valuable discussion here on neutralizing and pushing that rudder pedal that's on pressure.
  10. A very lucky pilot to get out of that. I guess the house owner will have that house upgrade now.
  11. I think the advice to do a few practice exams is excellent. By doing the practice exams you will soon see its multiple choice with one answer obviously incorrect and a very obviously right answer amongst the three remaining. A number of questions have two answers that are correct - surprising one is better. I found this quite confusing when doing the exam. Once the exam was finished my instructor went through my answers I got wrong and spent a bit of time explaining why one answer was more correct. It is a little confusing why the exam is written that way
  12. Just checked the charges and I don't think the decision would be based on an under $10 charge - think I read the Council fee charge site right Some list of various :faint:charges though to live there
  13. Ok this may also be a reason one of the group mentioned not flying in to main Wagga
  14. Two of those thinking about travelling do not have security - ASIC - cards. So the thought was a nearby strip.
  15. Hi all, A few of us are thinking of flying into Wagga NSW shortly and there was discussion on options nearby the main Wagga airfield. Are there any smaller fields nearby:smoking: Thanks. Bernie
  16. Nick - a fellow Skybolt owner, where are you based? I'm at YLED Lethbridge Victoria.

G'day Bernie, It's actually my dads, I just haven't updated my profile for 5 or 6 years. He's in Grafton NSW at the moment but it was based in Benalla VIC during the 90's. Its silver, VH-UZZ. They're an awesome plane. He's talking about doing some work to it ie rebagging, enclosed canopy etc.

  18. I guess the discussion can be from both directions. .. You place the RV4 on the RAA registry then it can be flown by anyone that has the RAA pilots certificate? But you are from the other point restricted in the aerobatic area - for me I just use the Skybolt for that? I think there is a very good insurance coverage under the RAA banner. But that needs to be read closely to see what RAA provides that exceeds general GA insurance that covers damage, repair, liability etc etc. The Rv3 appears ok to go on the RAA registry in it's current configuration and the RV 4 with its rear seat capability removed Interesting
  19. Don Thanks, yes that sounds like a good proposal and I hope it gets up. Opens up the option to place many aircraft on the RAA Rec Aus register being aware that aerobatics is not permissible. I started a conversation - see your menu Cheers
  20. Tnx guys for the suggestions. I've had a couple of messages regarding RV4 that are on Rec Aus RAA..
  21. Thanks for the link .. The link can see this Thread closed..
  22. Hi all Re - RAAUS Special General Meeting. Yesterday the 14th of May marked the AGM and I wondering if a member who attended could give an update - in particular in the constitution changes proposed and results of the vote. In particular item 7 on the Agenda. A number of members at our airport had forwarded Proxy votes on the item 7 which looked at the Constitution and changes under the Corporations Act of 2001. Thanks for any update on if this item 7 was passed. I appreciate there may be reference elsewhere in Threads to both the AGM and Constitution, but I thought a Thread on this actual meeting was timely.
