  1. No I don't watch fox news. No can not give an actual example as I have stopped watching most ABC stuff but I remember being unimpressed with Q and A.
  2. The comments have been about TV programs and I have not seen any stations that I think lean to the right. Of course we all know which way you lean hence the ABC support.
  3. Yeah well this is about the ABC and BBC.
  4. Yes they are, but maybe not quite as bad and it is unacceptable for a tax payer funded organisation. One thing is painfully obvious ALP supporters love them.
  5. Glad they are OK, I will be interested to find out what happened.
  6. Such bad advice, confusion between crashing and landing, sure if you thump it down hard enough you won't care because you will be dead.
  7. Alf, I don't know where to start with this but this is the way I see it, the uncontrolled crash which has most likely totaled the plane and left the pilot badly injured has been described as a good landing, the pilot was trying to get back to the airport when the the best thing would have been to do a out landing on the fairway. I have thought some of the comments on this thread are so absurd people are just baiting or they are clueless about these things. I think the fact he is still alive is more luck than good management. Because you have said what a great job the pilot did I thought you did not understand what appears to have happened which was the reason for my comment above. If I am wrong about all this then so be it, I am just working with the information that is available. I am glad you practice engine failures. Richard.
  8. Alf I hope you don't have an engine failure any time soon. Richard.
  9. It is hard for us to know just going on TV footage but I thought it was an example of what not to do.
  10. I wasn't there so it is hard to really know, there may have been people on the golf course he avoided or some thing like that. It appeared to me that he was trying to get back to the airport and stalled and crashed heavily way short of the mark. Probably lucky to be alive thanks to doctors on the scene, a broken pelvis and what ever other injures he has is hardly a good out come when maybe a safe landing could have been done on the fairway.
  11. It looks to have hit the ground hard, maybe spinal injuries sadly, best to practice your glide approaches. It doesn't matter how close the airport is the plane will only glide so far and you cannot stretch it.
  12. This in the Courier Mail http://www.pressreader.com/australia/the-courier-mail/20150303/281951721275705/TextView
  13. Funny thing the red raggers love the ABC and pretend it is not biased in their direction.
  14. That should impress them.
  15. Epaulettes might do the trick.
  16. Just before take off say 'I got this let's kick it and rip it'.
  17. Wear some sort of uniform, if you can get them in the plane try to appear confident and technical, do lots of pre-take off checks turn all switches on and off, talk on the radio a lot, remember to turn the fuel cock on.
  18. I am not sure about that, I like Sony 3 CCD cameras but I have not been involved with these things for a while. I am told a Cannon DSLR still camera can be good for video as well. I think maybe size and cost are important with this as it has to be small enough to be used in a small aircraft and produce acceptable video footage. Maybe something like this. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SONY-HDR-CX700VE-BOXED-in-BRAND-NEW-CONDITION-/321680425209?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item4ae5a5c0f9 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SONY-HANDYCAM-HDR-CX220E-CAMCORDER-HD-HIGH-DEFINITION-VIDEO-/221700046373?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item339e5a3e25
  19. I have found the posts by Dutch and FH interesting and informative.
  20. That is funny, especially where the idiots thought Queensland is.
  21. A GoPro Hero 4 Silver would most likely be a good choice but they are expensive, here in Aus about $540.00. Have you already got a video camera? If so you could be filming the rest of your build and test flying with that. For flying I think you would need at least two action cams, maybe you could get away with one being a cheaper GoPro copy. There are many advantages to using GoPros and if possible they are the best way to go, stuff like using a smart phone for preview, review, control and changing the settings. I think what you are doing would make a great documentary but it would have to be filmed as you go. I think you really need 3 GoPros one on the wing, one in the cockpit and one hand held, maybe you could approach GoPro about sponsorship.
  22. Hey 4vientos maybe you could make documentary of building the plane and the trip? It might be possible to sell the story to 60 minutes or somebody like that.
  23. I don't really know maybe daddy owns the TV station? Yesterday we had reports of the cyclone causing flooding in NSW when it was at Biloela in Qld.
  24. Next year in fact, you heard it here first. Richard.
