Hi Nobody, did you submit an incident report to raaI am glad you managed to land safely and are here to tell the tale. It isn't hard to imagine that the pain could be such a distraction that you make a simple mistake in the landing with bad consequences. Weren't you worried that it could come back on the flight home? -
It wasn't a drama then but now you have to pay for it and when everybody realizes that they will have legal liabilities once they sign on the dotted line the cost will be in the thousands then we'll see if it's no dramaWhen I built my Savannah I had it looked over several times by L2 guys and of course a L4 with the final inspection. It was no drama- 1

Continuing to pay the rego looks like a cheaper option than letting it lapse.
That sounds good but what if raa refuse to register it which is what happened to me. So now three years later I have an aircraft sitting in the shed and now I've lost interest.

Somewhat like the weather - everybody talks about it..Well, the DDSAA (Darling Downs Sport Aircraft Association), based at Clifton, IS doing something!
They have engaged a GA aero instructor with a suitable aircraft, to conduct spin training for all members who wish to attend, this weekend.
That's a great idea, well done. I hope you have applied to raa for some financial assistance. This is a, real safety focus not just a slogan, key ring tag or random logbook checks

your got to be kidding. Reread docjell's postSeems to me like getting a roadworthy for a car that you have not registered for two years, perfectly reasonable. -
Well if your want to have such a strong opinion you owe it to yourself to be more informed. Kasper is correct in his understanding and we owe him a debt of gratitude to go to all this trouble on our behalf. I say on our behalf because the board are heading straight back to where we were a couple of years ago and if someone doesn't take them on we will be in deep trouble. I have been 100% behind the board up until they spend their time [ which I pay for] on promoting only one option, [their option] for the new direction of raa under the guise of information sharing. I'm sickened by their approach. Also having Don on this forum promoting the same, I had such high hopes for this new board but they have shown themselves to be the same as the previous mob with just a little bit of communication to try and appear different. What they fail to understand is ''communication'' is not transparency. Thank you Kasper.Well FWIW (not much admittedly) I think that calling for nominations nice and early is a good thing and I don't mind them jumping the gun a little to get things rolling. Personally I think more people would be unhappy if they waited months and months to dot the eyes (yes yes I mean the letter but I am grammatically lazy) and cross the Ts.As far as not letting everyone know through snail mail about the opening of nominations............ Well I am one of the ones who doesn't read the online mag (too lazy) and I miss my paper copy (too lazy to subscribe, notice a pattern?) but when it comes to looking for people to run/direct RAA if they aren't electronically capable then I don't want them at the helm. No matter what their skills are in this day and age with a membership as broad as ours I at least expect them to be able to read an email and if they aren't interested enough in RAA to read the RAA newsletter then sorry but IMO (humblish, I have to work on that still) they are not good enough to be a director.Kasper if you put half the effort you put into finding the faults into nominating for a spot and sitting on the board you could be a huge help to the whole membership but (to me anyway) the attitude that you seem to have towards RAA just comes across as argumentive without really wanting to get things better. Of course I don't know all the ins and outs of how that has come to be but it does seem to me that it would be better for all (including you) if you could soften your attitude and be a little more constructive.
Anyway that's probably enough of my opinion for one day:whistling:

I am also voting no for much the same reasons, It appears to me that we will have a well paid, well run organization [by professionals] with no member input at all wanted or needed. Change I'm up for, but not all or nothing.

when your at 1000 feet there should be no excuse not to put the plane down with the exemption of may be ground conditions when you arrive.
My failure was at 200-250 feet when performance is more critical.

First thing he should have done nose down, that should have been instinct, next tighten the bloody harness as tight as you can. I didn't see him try to re start the engine or look to check fuel valves etc. Maybe he new more about the amount of fuel he had or lack of it that meant both those things was only going to waste his time. No radio maybe so no mayday. Low level turn with no engine when not required, bloody madness. He survived by luck and that's not the way it's meant to be. What should he have done can be summed up in one sentence, take control of the situation, aggressively if required and make it happen. He should have side slipped that plane to the flare and given himself the whole paddock to sit it on the ground. So to sum it up He let it happen. He did not take control he let it happen. BAD. Have I had an engine fail yes I have. Did I do any better well no not really. I did well with some things BUT I failed to take control to a level that is required to save me and my plane. Like him the opportunities were there and I didn't take them I allowed things to roll on and hope for the best. He through luck and only luck didn't get hurt, I wasn't that lucky but lucky enough to not be dead.

I'm keen to know what these several people offered up too meet the request and was it accepted by those carrying out the ramp check.Yep i too know several people who have been asked for a maintenance release form for their RAA aircraft on a ramp check...Do a google search for "RAA maintenance release" there are plenty of results indicating it is a common term -
as an l2 you do not certify an aircraft airworthy, you can't you have no qualifications, none

The answers easy, don't do it.Bruce if you have saved and invested your entire life, own your own home ...to sign off and say an aircraft is airworthy is a financial huge risk , especially in a club so tuation where some users dont even know your face, let alone appreciate your efforts.... The court case alone could send you broke with or without a loss.If they get injured , when i sign off....i risk everything i have ever worked for...and the stuid thing is, when you're u sign in ff your signing off to say its fully airworthy even though some company nents you may not have inspected or worked on...Why does RAA insurance cover committee and instructors, but not maintainers

It needs to be under AUS$1000 total and that is INCLUDING the freight and any insurance the total to be under 1000 aussie...so basically US$700 inc freight and insurance otherwise we get nailed for GST and any import duty on the top of that amount
no import duty on aviation related items.

yes you canAs it should be. You can't Google any old car rego, boat, trailer or truck rego willy-nilly. Why is my plane different? -

That's as it should be. Even though I don't always agree with what raa do I must say the more I see of this new direction the board is taking the more I like it. Well done raa. Now if we can fix the communication issues we have things will really be looking up.

Well I've heard from a number of people suggesting that it does, so I asked my cfi when I did my bfr, [18/12/15] he said as you say that they no longer exist and promptly endorsed me for all the aircraft I've flown in my log book that he has knowledge of but even so I still was not convinced. By chance my bfr and PC became due at the same time and when my email arrived from raa to say all was well and my certificate would be in the mail came which I still have it was minus as you would expect the LP/HP endorsements. Here was an oppurtunity to ring raa and get a final word and put my mind at rest so I did. I was put through to the appropiate people the responce " that's ok it would be on my certificate when it arrived and true to their word there they were all nine of them including HP and LP, hence my comment a fact check is in order.Terryc, have a look at the RAAus web site.https://www.raa.asn.au/formsThere are NO forms for a LP endorsement. 2 stroke yes. This changed a while back. An endorsement is now required for the type.

who said there is no HP /LP endorsement anymore. There might be a need for a facts checkWell there's no Low performance/high performance endorsement anymore. I asked my local CFI and he is going to talk to RA to see if he can do it. But he said that because he isn't Type Trained in an XAir he couldn't do it most likely. It didn't really sound right to me. I would have thought as long as it's 3 axis, nose wheel I should be able to fly it. Except I still need 2S endorsement -
What frightens me is it appears that the most of you have become so reliant on your radio and place so much faith in it that you have forgotten what is required of you as pilot in command of an raa aircraft
