  1. There was an amphibian prototype being built in north Qd. a couple of years ago called "SEA EAGLE". Does anyone know what happened to it. I suppose like a lot of good designs, it too, has fallen of the drawing board. Graeme
  2. Thanks Brent, I wouldn't mind contacting him for some info. Graeme
  3. Yen, I lived in Gladstone for nearly 20 years up til 5 years ago. There was a cessna float plane that used to land in the marina then taxi over to the boat ramp at the Yacht Club. It was quite a regular visitor. Graeme
  4. Hi Tony, I would have thought that if a power boat license was required as well, to operate an Amphibian/Float plane you naturally do the test in a power boat, not a plane. It is then up to you to operate that aircraft in the confines of the boating regulations until you leave the water. Seems straight forward to me. I'm really thinking of building a full composite Osprey2 which will be under the 615kg limit and powered with a 120hp engine. Graeme
  5. This has probably been asked before but; " With all the waterways, lakes, dams, river systems and oceans in and around Australia, Why aren't pilots going for a dual purpose aircraft like amphibians rather than being confined to land based aircraft". At least with amphibians you have two choices of landing surface and a vast array of exploration possibilities throughout our great country. Imagine, a group of amphibians flying to some inland lake/s in Qld for a week of camping and Barra fishing. I would like to have an amphibian aircraft in the next 2 years and do a lot of sight seeing/camping trips around Aus and in particular the lakes in the mountains of Tasmania and throw a line for some trout. It is amazing that we have a far better climate than Canada (sunshine especially), but unlike them, we have very few amphibians. I'd like to hear your comments. Graeme
  6. Hi Ben, I think there was a High Scool in Bundaberg Qld that did that, building a Jabiru and with help from Jabiru which is based at Bundaberg. I'm not 100%, but I do remember something about it a couple of years ago. Graeme
  7. Thanks Carl, I have emailed them for information (in French). A language translator program comes in handy from time to time. Graeme
  8. Not totally sure but I have a feeling it's a french design ? Graeme
  9. Can anyone shed any light on where this aircraft originated, the builder or designer, or any information at all would be appreciated. Graeme
  10. Hi Eyecast. Nothing to report yet. We've had a couple of hickups with delivery etc. and the Dyno has been booked out solid we recieved it, and we can't get on it till 5th May now. Hopefully we will have the Geared redrive finished by that date as well. Blackhawk
  11. Hi Wayne, You would be better to send him a personal messaage (forum policy about commercial interests). His user name is drkgld, I've spoken to him about the airpark blocks myself, he will be able to answer all your questions. Graeme
  12. Hi Bendorn, I saw what the Whitsundays 1/4 acre blocks were worth, ouch! There's a 20 block residential air park with 1000m grass strip being built 18k west of Maryborough. It's at the survey stage and will be completed before the end 2008. A 3 acre block there is only $145K. Looks a bit more affordable
  13. Hi Doug, The test engine is being unloaded in Brisbane today (Wednesday 30.1.08) and we should have it at the Engineers on Monday or Tuesday. It will take about a week to set the engine up on the Dyno and another week to do the testing. So some time around the 18th February we should be able to post the results. In the meantime I will post photo's of the engine being unpacked and also on the test bench of the Dyno. I might even do a video of the engine being tested and do some close-ups of the instrument readings in test conditions. Graeme
  14. Suzuki 1.3 Hi guys, The reason I asked Eyecast the source of his information was to see whether the 180hp Suzuki engine he mentioned was a typical rebuild motor vehical engine which had been souped up to the max. Which it was. So all of your perceptions and concerns with this small 1.3 litre rebuilt engine pumping out 180hp are well warranted. Now for the next stampeed of replies to what I am about to let you know about. Next week we will be recieving our 'BRAND NEW STANDARD FACTORY BUILT' 180hp Suzuki 1.4 litre, twin cam, 16 valve, Turbochared, EFI engine. Suzuki who are a large size manufacturer would not put out standard engines from their factory if they were not confident of the performance or the long term dependibility. The engine is being delivered to an independant engine engineer for our own Dyno testing to make sure it performs as claimed. If any one is interested in the results let me know. Blackhawk
  15. Hi Eyecast, Have you got any more info on these engines and where to get them. Are they rebuilt car engines? Blackhawk
  16. MID ENGINE DESIGN We want to keep the kit price to under $45,000 Aus. The rest of the required equipement: engine (about the same cost as a Rotax 914 or a little bit more, but will be competetive for what you get), instruments, and general construction materials which will not be available with the kit should be around $30,000.
  17. MID ENGINE DESIGN Here is our design that we will be puting into production as a kit. All composite Mid engined tractor with fixed landing gear, 2 seat side by side, of 544kg MTOW and powered by a 100hp 'DIESEL' engine. (All I can reveal about this engine at the moment is; it weighs less than 60kg in full flying configuration and will be available to the public some time in 2008. It has already been tested and is about to go into full production). The Magnum will cruise at 133kts and have a stall of 41kts and a range of 1000km. We are looking for funding for this project, so if any one is at all interested, dont hesitate to contact me.
