  1. I can beat that excessive price .

When ( so long ago ) we flew somewhere in

Badgerys Creek . I enquired as-to the flight training on their " autogyro " . Big shock at the reply .

    $3,000 .

That was the same as ' helicopter ' training .

    crazy.

  2. The lower entry price, is even lower , If , you can put your own labour

into it , also your pride of workmanship vs the workmanship of a paid to produce

    Person.

Your, dream machine . Why cut corners if a little extra work fills you with pleasure of a job well done .

  3. most of my model aeroplanes crashed .

    repeatedly.

Except one . A fairly big 707 delta-wing , that my big brother had put a large banger inside . Jetex powered it went great , then bang , no plane & no Jetex motor.

    not happy

  4. Not really.

Just buy half Finnished homebuilt aircraft .

I know a finished Hummel , that will make a smashing drone .

There were 16 builders, at the height of the Hummel-Bird

Craze . Were are those unfinished drones .

  5. Not a lot of ' flying ' , but the cheapest form of ' flying ' . LoL

( a long time ago I asked Mr King to ' test fly ' my bird . NO takers ) .

I was taken by surprise when taking my bird for it's inspection .

Was told " not registrable " as the rules were changed .

I could have had it inspected , a couple of years earlier if  I was informed ,

( instead of flying the clubs traing aircraft )

About the rule change in time . OR I could have lied & had that " grandfathered " . clause work for me . My years of flight training . didn't pay off for me the way I expected .

  6. What do you write in the " Airframe '' Logbook.

Would I need to put an " accident " , were , while bolted onto trailer.

    I pulled back the joystick,  ( motor running 3000 rpm ) ,

    which lifted the motor off it's it's rest-bed .

Now have rear support to stop the take-off  " rotate " .

Plus , I have remove the joystick.

  7. Health & weight . Plus I don't think I could ever get my certificate .

Now ' I'm older ' but healthier.  Weight down by 19 klgms & new hip .

So, one klgm to go before I could sit in the plane & have fuel in the tank .

Shortly I will have My driving licence taken away , without which I cannot have a RAA certificertificate .  ( age limits ).

  8. ' Natural gas '

Must be terrible As the Victorian government wants it banned  from all new houses.

    But ' why ' change ' .

The cost of conversion will take any  " fuel cost  " savings away .

Almost anybody can afford three ltrs of super petrol a month .

And that biannual oil change , with ' motor oil . As opposed to aviation oil.

    Is " give-away " cheap .

    Lets pretend.

    4 hours flying a week . 24 ltrs @ $ 2.00 , $ 48 a week fuel cost.

Could you fly for less . anywhere.

  9. Hand-proping shows. Just how tight a motor is , even before putting the plugs in to fire it up .

The poh says 30 revolution's to make certain oil pressure is good . Then put the plugs in to go .  ' Hopefully '

It all went to plan . & my weight is getting good. 105 down to 86 kgms.

  10. A very economical  motor .

Two litrs engine oil . And 3 litrs fuel for 30 minutes flying . ( dreaming of " soaring like an eagle " ).

No tyre wear at all , disk  brakes hanging along side the undercarriage.  No wear there also. And less than 15 hours on the " New " motor .( very tight for the first 5/6 hours ). my dream machine  .

  11. To inhibit  the Hummel-Bird motor .

IS a huge waste of my enjoyment , as my demise will mean it's trip to the ' scrapyard ' .

Such a wast with only one granddaughter ,with a love of flying .

Alas  , no way to pay those flying lessons cost . With two sons & a nursing career ,

    Just started .

  12. Low heat welding was tried in the sixty's . Tested and discarded. ( Eutectic ) .

But I did like their super hard overlay,  with a different weld to the base , then the hard weld onto.

Tested against a " cold " chisel . the HHS hard-weld . split the chisel a quarter way down it shank . Used to rebuild bulldozer teeth .
