I would have thought the pitch up tendency of a Jabiru would be OK to overcome on a go around - even when trimmed for landing.

I just checked my Ozrunways renewal - over 10% price increase annually.
I'm about to check out Avplan.

No. There's been a couple controlled flight into terrain. Another uncontrolled flight into terrain in the Blue Mountains, Katoomba area, last year.

So the media at its best post an aerial photo of Latrobe Valley Airport?
Terrible news for a family tonight.

I love the title of this thread...What an understatement!

Not my last flight but the last flight of the Buggatti 100P. This should be a new thread.

That's right. Muslims couldn't possibly be pedophiles but they are allowed to marry women as young as one year old and consummate that marriage when that woman is nine years old. The don't commit adultery either as men can get a permit to temporarily marry a woman for an hour. Why are there no islamic churches appearing at the RC into institutional child abuse? The Islam churches not being packed with pedophiles is probably a major contributing factor, who knows? the first mosque was built in 1861, so plenty of opportunities.- 2

I can't challenge your statistics, Oscar. This country has been incredibly lucky...so far. Islamic nutters would have killed many Australians if it were not for the diligence of our security services and many worried Moslem parents.I used to share your tolerant view of Islam and once held the pious hope that the goodness in people would win out over ignorance. Experience has diminished my faith in human nature. You're right that often the violence has more to do with individual mental health issues- but it seems their book not only condones this violence, but requires it.
That's what concerns me, the content of their book. If they don't follow it then they are infidels and are also supposed to be killed as are all non Muslims.

Thanks for an actual report Diggler - all this rumour, doom and gloom from some is a real bummer.QBE seem quite at ease to renew my insurance for my 19 registered Jab just this week. My no claim discount remains and there are no caveats to the cover.Methinks scuttlebutt prevails in the preceding posts regarding insurance.- 1

I'm pretty sure the Jabiru was behaving as expected in a turning stall. Looking forward to seeing the climbing turning stall videos.

I might have missed it having been previously posted but - The Jabiru 250/450 wing is the same span as the 200/400 with a longer chord. A mate built one here and it is a ripper. Fast, good roll rate and lowish stall speed. To me it's more like an RV wing, low aspect slab and they work pretty well. Laurie

I'm pretty sure the winglets are purely for show. Thanks Phil.Pylon, you may be right but not for sure. Aileron fences are small and may just appear as a source of drag in the misaligned airflow. My understanding is that they were put on to satisfy the Europeans, and if aileron fences could have done the job then they would have been cheaper.
I still want to see some tuft test pictures. Maybe one day I'll do this myself, but I'm busy with the CHT/EGT business for now.
A mate with an SP500T fitted aileron fences by attaching them to the wingtip next to the aileron - says they liven up the aileron response particualarly at low speed.

I 'built' a Jabiru kit and they're regarded 51%+

Low wing, a bit KR2/Joeyish :)

I often use RWY on my Samsung s5 when flying locally and as a back up for the iPad. It works well but no where near as complete as the apple version.

It's also quite common when teaching to have the head teacher tell you something, the class manager tell the class something else and finally a third thing happens...
This would be the definition of 'Chinese whispers' wouldn't it?

He certainly got the title right. It looked like there were so many better landing options.

Billow shift - a characteristic of flex wings that assists with turning. With the development of trikes into fully strutted wings, I wonder why no manufacturer has made a "solid" wing?Weight?......Kasper?- 1

Good to see he was a supporter of another Australian industry - Maton guitars!

When I was building my project, UL450, I spoke to someone at Jabiru, Jamie I think it was, about fitting those cool winglets like the later model Calipso (UL450). There may be a 1 knot reduction in stall speed. Not worth the effort and expense. But they are pretty. Laurie

Another Jab sortee today - two Jabs from YLTV to YTOC and one returned to YLTV. The reason being I ferried my mate's SP6 to YTOC to be close to where he now lives (Cobram). Neither missed a beat. Laurie.

Sounds a lot like hang glider spin recovery technique.I asked the same question yesterday if an experienced aerobatic pilot and he told me flat spin recovery includes full into-spin aileron, get it to roll into a dive, then recover.
