  1. My 95 mogas was a bit stale after a week of realy hot 40 ish + .Now i think about it my old 2200 i had a few years ago did the same on 95 ???

I wonder if the small tips of the iridium plugs make them more susceptible to running on ??

Hope not; I'll find out with my next plug replacement.

  2. Ive been running them in the LCH 3300. Definatly easyer starting , but im not sure how they can make an engine run cooler ???Last time i flu , about 3 weeks ago , the engine" ran on "on shut down , i put it down to stale mogas?

Or maybe glowing tips on the iridium plugs ?

Mine ran on a couple of weeks ago when on mostly mogas 95. I've found it doesn't with 10% or more a gas. Normal plugs.

  3. Mine and others run just on the tip of the dipstickAny more and ot gets pumped out

Excess oil makes them run hot oil temps too.

Id suggest if you run at the level seen after an hour of so flight oil use will be much lower.

Something you need to watch and be careful with

I normally use 2 quarts and have the oil about 5mm on the dip stick. This time I added another 200ml - higher oil temps and oil pressure very high. It appears to be happier with the lower level.

  4. I did write my response in jest:wink:

But remember negative g isn't limited to being upside down, in a standard 3axis setup you can quiet easily get negative g while staying upright in calm air (push stick forward quickly) and if you were in rough enough air you could momentarily have negative g with no control inputs. I would have thought ANY negative g in a chute setup would have the occupant and the chute come closer?

I am only surmising and personally have nothing against them, in fact I have toyed with the idea of going for a tif up at Manilla quiet a few times:thumb up:. (Go figure, jumping out of a plane isn't on my to do list but off the side of the hill might be:scratching head:)

You get to really like the bumps because they are a good sign that you are about to enter lift. There's a bit more to it that that.

It's very rare that you see the lines go slack (that would be a sign that you are getting closer to the wing in negative g); I suppose that's because you weigh a lot more than the wing and your 'area' is much less than the wing, therefore you don't get closer to the wing. It is possible to get the wing to accelerate much faster than you and for it to end up beneath you (check out youtube paraglider 'infinite tumbling') but that's what I was referring to regarding being silly enough to get the wing beneath you. Not a criticism of you or anyone else :)

Regarding the tif, if you aren't too far from Manilla you could fly the Hornet into Godfrey's place (he has a strip ideal for you), and do an introductory course. I thought about paragliding for years with all the negatives instilled in me from my hang gliding back ground. I'm very glad I gave it a go....

  5. Don't know about jellyfish - I remember my hangliding instructor telling me he was flying near some once and saw one fold up and drop about 300 ft before the pilot managed to get it inflated again. You wouldn't want that to happen at 200 ft.

I'm a 3 axis required control freak.. Don't trust gravity unless someone will guarantee no big gusts. Folding wings worry me too if they don't know when to do it. Most aerobatic planes have a steel tube fuselage don't they? Cobweb is the strongest material they say.Roman candle . Isn't that when the chute doesn't open. They used to say it's OK if you just put your arms out horizontal and you only go in up to your shoulders . Nev

Is your Fisher Horizon the same as a Wright Flyer?

  6. I've had it happen twice on mine too. The common denominator was a very high percentage of mogas. With 15% + avgas and ensuring the throttle is close properly it doesn't happen. I also use 'flashlube' at 1% and this helps in other ways.

  7. I had an Ivo prop on a Quicksilver GT400. It was great, in fact it still is because a good mate has recently bought the GT (after if left me it went to Latrobe Valley for a couple of years, got a new 447, same prop, then sold to a bloke in Orange then sold onto another bloke back in Victoria, Leongatha and my mate bought it from his estate. It's now at Shady Creek, a place it knows very well since I used to visit very often for morning coffee :)).

  8. It has just occurred to me that there is an identified risk in driving a motor car, apparently hundreds are killed each year in Australia, the government must act now and stop these vehicles being used around the public and get all who wish to travel within to sign a waiver.

They are actually using a different basis for this action, potential accidents that might occur as a resulf of a Jabiru engine failure. If they were looking at the type of engine powering aircraft involved in fatal accidents! ...... Let's just say there could be a number of operators presently gloating about their wonderful, infallable engines and their clever purchases who could be disappointed.
