  1. Yes I know where to find the abbreviations are and what they mean, but there is yet to be shown where there is specification for the meanings of the locations and the big numbers. And yes - I know what they mean now too, but where is it specified? And who knows what other little NOTAM secrets lurk in the private codes of the ones who create this stuff.
  2. Thanks Denny. As comprehensive as those documents are, I can not find a FLW RTE statement in any of them. This is my bug bear.
  3. After searching CASA and other places I am at a loss as to find out where the NOTAM decoding as above is stated. Can someone please tell me where this information document can be found? They don't make it easy. Safety should be easy?!
  4. Awesome thanks. Is there a reference online for this level of Notam decoding. I am trying to prepare for my XC. Also is a date group of 10121145 as AEST = October 12th at 0945pm AEST.?
  5. I continue to encounter new abbreviations and aviation acronyms. Please decode this and tell me what the big numbers after the place names mean. I know most of it - lets see how you go. Thanks. 6. Phil, If you want to save a screen capture from the ipad of say the weather as currently displayed on your ipad, you can press the power button and quickly simultaneously press the button on the front of the screen. This will save an image in your camera roll. You can also repeat for the Notam or other parts of the weather as required. No need to use the PDF reader.
  7. I have a wing I want to sell. I have posted a price - but you can make offers after you see it if you want. http://www.aircraftonline.com.au/product.php?id=1827 Thanks.
  8. Thanks guys - that's what I thought. Just checking.. I use my wifi ipad2 with my phone hotspot like Andrew says - and works just the same as a having a sim in the ipad but no extra sim to worry about. I would run the 3g Ipad3 mini with GPS without SIM for the live Ozrunways too, after installing all maps and ersa required with wifi connection.
  9. Andrew - are you saying you need a 3g connection for the GPS to work? Or is that for the maps to upload and update?
  10. Well done.... the cure is only time.
  11. Good idea. I think that's a good option if you already have the ipad (without GPS) you plan to use, but because I am considering getting a new mini - I'll just get one with built in GPS - works out about the same price. And being in a trike will not restrict the satellite signal that much anyway.
  12. Hopefully the New Ipad Mini screens will improve this.
  13. Oh No. With my upcoming XC endorsement I'll be finding myself queuing up at midnight for the release of the Ipad2 mini. Thanks Being in an open cockpit microlight, a paperless office makes sense.
  14. I have had my Pilot cert since January, and have been riding motorcycles for about 7 years, and really enjoy both. But, I don't like it when the weather is bad which is too often - can't ride or fly (or work!).
  15. Yes it is a shame... Thanks Steve. I may be down that way early next year though :-)
  16. I'm here visiting my parents. Dad hasn't been well. Any one around want to take me for a fly while i'm in the area? I here until 14th June. Of course fine weather would be nice. I can do the same if your ever in my neck of the woods. Pretty please :-)
  17. So do you like the arrow or the streak3? I will want one in the future. What are the stall speeds like for landing on a short field? Thanks.
  18. Let us know how you go talking to Peter. I'd love one of those wings :)
  19. I was introduced to this app today for android. Has anyone used it? To me it looks like it will do everything and more that i need. http://www.ppgps.info/PPGpS.aspx I especially like the real time on line tracking, and the ability to export kml files. There is a wealth of real time inflight data also.
  20. I was being tested for straight and level control in thermal crosswind conditions. That is, my reactions and control correction response. Well, so i believe, i excelled anyway i am hgfa. (Wsm).
  21. I was asked during my test to make a low pass on the main airport runway. There was a crosswind, and a lot of warm air rising from the bitumen, so i knew the challenge was a good one. I turned base, final and lined her up. All was going awesome. As we got closer and closer to the surface i could see it was going to be a fantastic landing. As we washed off the final speed the instructor yelled, power power power and took over. I couldn't understand what was wrong. The landing was looking perfect considering the wind and bumps. He said... "I didn't say land, i wanted a low pass straight down the runway". Ooopps... Sorry. So we went round and did it properly the second time. Still passed. I put it down to nerves. Moral -listen to the instructors instructions carefully! Good luck, i'm sure you'll well.
