  1. Hi Frank. Hope you are well. The aircraft certainly isn't inferior so how about I replace the word "cheap" with words like "very cost effective"? And seeing costs are divided by two because it is a syndicate, it really is "value for money". Plus, the aircraft has proven to be very reliable so it's the best of both worlds. Sean.
  2. If you want cheap and reliable flying this maybe just the thing for you. Check out the ANYTHING FOR SALE section in the forum - SupaPup Syndicate Caboolture. For more details contact me on 0422965796 or [email protected] Sean.
  3. Thanks for all the replies. Yes, it would be great to fly in but I would have to go by Jetstar. Hope to see some of you at the airshow, cheers.
  4. Hi. I am thinking of going to the 2009 Avalon Airshow. I would like to hear from others who have been to this airshow in the past and am looking for information on where to stay, transportation, type of tickets, when best to book etc etc etc. Cheers. Sean.
  5. Good on ya Keith, many happy flying days to you. I laughed when you mentioned about the ROC indicator. When I did my first solo back in late 06 the gauge went thru the roof so to speak. To be the only one aboard is something very special. For me, I am about to add to that milestone of doing my first solo cross country. Who would had thought, certainly not me.......... All the very best to you. Sean.
  6. RX probs Hi again. Well, the Delcom 920 radio works great with the engine off. Both Tx & Rx are crystal clear via the headset. But with engine started the Tx is great - radio checks say it 4's. But the Rx audio is distorted (you can hear them but they are garbled or scratchy) most of the time, it sort of comes and goes. Also, with engine started the you can not adjust the squelch to make noise. I have tried a RFI filter without any luck. The unit is panel mounted in the dash and instrument/engine wiring is very close by. And we are running a 4A Power Mate off a Rotax 447 Any suggestions? BTW: the aircraft (Supa Pup) flew for the first time on Sunday since we purchased it back in August. It was nice to see her up where she belongs. Ta. Sean.
  7. You only have a few more days to respond. HUGE COSTS, ALL PAIN, NO GAIN. If you feel like I do then tell them, ACT NOW. And if you don't feel like I do, then do nothing at all. Here is an email another pilot has just sent me, hope it is of some use to you. Sean. .................................................................................................... tried to email my response and the DOTAR sever blocked it as spam !!! I guess thats one way of preventing complaints. If you want to try email, send something your response in the format below to [email protected] . I printed out the attached document, filled it in with the responses below and faxed it to them on 02 6274 7804. You could also print it and post to the address on the form but please respond somehow. If possible, use your own words for the responses - of course, if your views are different to mine than that won't be a problem ;-) Joint Consultation Paper Response Form Transition to Satellite Technology for Navigation & Surveillance How are you responding to this questionnaire / proposal, i.e. whose views are represented in your response? Private individual Please advise your main involvement in aviation: Other (specify below*) * Details: Recreational Pilot Are you satisfied with the consultation on this issue? Dissatisfied Difficult to reply in electronic format. A web response form would have been preferable. Key Change Proposals The four government agencies invite you to advise your comments on the subject matter proposed in this JCP by indicating your preference by ticking [] the appropriate box and commenting below: Proposed timing of transition to satellite technology for navigation and surveillance Requirements for carriage and use of ADS-B avionics from mid-2012 Requirements for carriage and use of ADS-B avionics from mid-2014 [ ] not acceptable under any circumstance This would affect large numbers of recreational aircraft which periodically transit through CTAF®. The operators of many of these aircraft would have limited or no access to the certified avionics LAME necessary to comply with the calibration requirements. The current CTAF® radio procedures ensure adequate operational safety in these areas. ADS-B should not be mandatory for operation in any Class-G airspace. ..................................................................................... 8. Hi Helmut. Thank you for your kind offer. If you could contact me by email with your details that would be greatly appreciated. [email protected] Thanks. Sean.
  9. I am looking for a basic slip/skid gauge, either "in panel" or "flush" mount. Can anyone tell me where I might get one from? Thanks. Sean.
  10. I appreciate your help, thanks a lot ;) Sean.
  11. Hi. My Rotax 447 is mounted upside down in my aircraft, hence the spark plugs point down. Whilst the HT lead caps/rubbers are in very good condition and fit firmly onto the solid post spark plugs, I would like to add a bracket or clip of somesort to "craddle" the spark plug lead cap so it can not accidentally come off. Does anyone know of a proven method and or product that will do the "craddling"? Or, is this idea a waste of time and effort? Thanks. Sean.
  12. Hi Browng, send an email to [email protected] and I'll reply to your address with the info, no probs. Sean.
  13. Hi Browng. Nothing to do with the actual topic but saw your logo and had to say, just got my tailwheel endorsement in the Caboolture Recreational Piper CUB and I enjoyed every minute of it, what a classic aircraft........ Sean.
  14. Thanks, I have the info, all the best. Sean.
  15. I appreciate your help, thanks. Sean.
  16. Hi Ralph. Thank you so much. The headset box is what you have mentioned. The problem was the wiring between the box and the set but all is fixed now. What are your thoughts on the ground plane or is the metal frame enough for a fabric covered aircraft? Take care. Sean.
  17. Hi. I am after an operators manual for a FUEL MIZER fuel flow gauge, can anyone help me? Thanks. Sean.
  18. Hi. I have a Delcom 960 panel mounted radio in an aircraft I just purchased. I don't have any headset audio or side tone and I am not sure about the PTT wiring and there is a "home made" heaset box with a "modulator" adjustment and it all interfaces back to the radio via the MIC & SPEAKER connections. Can anyone give me some info on the set and how it should be wired? Also, the aircraft is fabric covered, do I need to put a ground plane surface under the antenna base? It is currently mounted on a small plate attached to one the metal cross bars. Thanks. Sean.
  19. Hi. Are you interested in any Rotax engine work coming your way? Sean.
  20. Found it, thanks Glen.
  21. Thanks Glen & Harwis. Glen, I couldn't find the PDF on Rotax's site? Sean.
