  1. BobHearing reports it was a hang glider with a motorised harness not a Trike

    Cheers

    Alf

Alf , I only caught a quick glimpse on the telly and noticed the 'mast ', wing and little else ,and concluded , perhaps incorrectly , that it was a trike . Well they are similar aren't they ... engine providing thrust , wings for lift , etc etc . 097_peep_wall.gif.dcfd1acb5887de1394272f1b8f0811df.gif ..... Bob

  2. Not sure what the recommended readings are these days, but you instructor should point you in the right direction . However John Brandon's tutorials , available here on this site are certainly worth reading . Just click on the 'sandwich' below ' Menu ' in the top LH corner of this page and then click on ' tutorials' . Good Luck ... Bob

  3. Don't muck around with it Russ , 7 years is not too bad, and you don't want problems, particularly on your trip out West . I got 7 years out of mine before it started being unreliable . I charged it a few times but you need a more sophisticated charger than mine, consequently the charge didn't last. I finally bit the bullet and ordered a new one which will probably see me out ..... 4. Heard today at the airport from an ex board member who still lurks around on the fringes that the ATSB reports into Jabiru and Jabiru powered aircraft will be out within 2 weeks time. When i asked what it meant and what was in the report he wouldn't answer, just said its bad news for a lot of people.

Now, don't shoot me down for reporting this, just keep a lookout for the report when released and go from there.

Hopefully this will explain all the numbers and detailed events to satisfy both sides of the argument and REMOVE any bias and mystery from these reported numbers and events.

Not sure about the ATSB , maybe he means CASA !! .... Bob

  5. Where are you biggles, I'm in Central Victoria and it has been the driest Spring and early Summer since the 82-83 drought!Have had a bit of rain in the last 2 weeks , but we are still hand feeding all of our stock...still a long way to go till we are out of gaol.

It was nice when we were up in Darwin last week lots of green grass!

About 10 km south of Bairnsdale Butch . Been here for 20 years now and can't ever recall the grass being green at this time of the year . But then again , Summer still has some time to go yet , and the next 7 days show 'no rain ' ...... Bob

  6. OK to cut the engine once you are sure you can safely continue with the rollout . Saves considerable distance and minimises possibility of ending up in crocodile infested river ! ..... Bob 026_cheers.gif.2a721e51b64009ae39ad1a09d8bf764e.gif

  7. I hope your right, I hope the three stooges are let go and sued !

I think they would be indemnified by their employer ( the taxpayer ) against professional negligence or whatever . But I do think Oscar's idea of a public execution would be in order .... Bob

  8. But I doubt Jabiru will lead any legal action as they need to deal with Casa forever .

Camel , having regard to what now must be a very significant amount due to lost sales ,together with much damage to the brand name , I would be extremely surprised , and disappointed , if Jabiru haven't already briefed their legal team in anticipation . I think this has a long way to run yet ..... Bob

  9. Hi Bob. The ailerons and elevator controls are spring loaded according to some reviews I've seen on the J230. IOW there is no direct connection between the stick and say the elevator. A spring is used somewhere in between to keep tension. The response feel has been described as jet like, which I assume means smooth but a bit damped.

Tommy , the ailerons and elevator are directly connected to the control stick. The only springs are those on the elevator trim system that merely assist, or bias the operation making the stick forces lighter. The upper cable in the picture , connected to the elevator control horn , is directly from the control stick , and the lower cable part of the trim system ..... Bob

  10. Looking forward to discussion on this site. I am training for a US sport license. I am looking at the Jabiru J230 because of the baggage capacity. It will fit a golf bag. Do the springs on the controls affect handling feel. Seems odd on a small plane.

What springs are you referring to Tommy ...... Bob

  11. Bob thats a great set-up. I have exactly the same in my Jab170 except the Ipad Mini is on the RH side and the 296 on the left.I found even the Mini too much "in my face" on the LH side but the 296 is small enough to be out of the way!

Thanks for that Roscoe , but your set-up is what my lady would prefer . She likes the coloured screens , but has to look at the ' boring old monochrome 196 ' ! Maybe I should just buy her a 296 instead , but that is easier said than done . Would like to see a pic of your set-up if possible ....... Bob
