Oh no....I could have been blown to pieces, tsk tsk:-). In the early ‘70s I spent nearly every weekend riding the Kurnell sand hills on a Honda ATC90 trike,  during the week we drove Army LARCS all over them.  Surf entry’s at Wanda Beach to go fishing!.

Now, those sand hills are flatter than a Woolies car park 😞

In 1942 My Dad was transferred from Adelaide River not long after the Bombing of Darwin to the Kurnell area to act as a Turk in the "40 Thousand Horseman". Better than being strafed and bombed for a few months.

  2. 135kg in 4 Batteries /4 = 33.75kg ea. Interesting what the voltage and AmpHr is.

I just swapped out a 100AH AGM at 32kgs for a 100AH Lithium 10kgs in my camper and installed a new Battery Management System. (Not making any comparison between my AGM and the aircraft Batteries) theoretically simply weight comparison with Lithium could see 1350AH at 12v. Mass may be an issue.

I dispute that it's hard to buy poor quality bottled wine. At a BBQ someone brought a bottle labelled Gossips. It wasn't quite vinegar  but close. I saw it later at the bottlo for $3.00, so $2.00 for the bottle and $1.00 for the contents.

I actually like the Gossips, get it from Dan's about $24 for 6 bottles. They have red and white wines in all types i.e. Shiraz (my choice). Best thing no hangover.

  4. I have a mate who left Air Services 4 years ago so this has been brewing for a while. The mindset here is the same as Individual solar to increase renewables. Primary radar only has limited range and is very expensive to setup all over the country. Initially ASA considered it cheaper to subsidize Transponders/Grant for ALL users to be a much cheaper option so secondary radar could do the job. For some reason the subsidy option has stalled but as it was once considered may be a push in that direction may succeed.

  5. I have been traveling west for 40 years and had a couple of hits and many near misses. Last 10 years have used the cheap whistles from supercheap and noticed immediatly the Kangaroo's react differently. They tend to be moving away when you see them in the distance. For less than $10 if the risk is reduced it is worth it. The pitch is higher than you can hear unless maybe your under 18.
