  1. Like most open cockpit flyers I have been frustrated with Comms especially radio communications. Have recently been trialing Sena Motorcycle comms buitl into the helmet with radio interface for UHF and VHF and WOW it actually works very good. All wireless the bluetooth intercomm works up to 2km. Paired to iphone and due to very good noise cancelling Siri works and calls are clear at both ends. HD music if you want it and it works great and ive got a 503 within 12 inches of my head. there is a chap in SA who has created aviation packs. I wont advertise him here but if you want his details PM me. (how is that any different).

  2. You can now if your aircraft complies with 95.55 - only need a RLP. Even if RAA gets CTA approval it will still require CTR/CTA endorsement AND I would suspect the same medical certification as the RPL. I would expect 95.55 restrictions on aircraft would not change either).

In this recent video in the MTOW increase thread, Linke talks about CTA and MTOW from 15.00 and Medicals from 23.00. They will never abandon "Drivers Licence Medicals" for RAA membership so I would say that includes the new group G up to 1500kg and CTA.

    RAA MTOW increase?

  3. Yes Box their was a good bit of cross wind drift on this one but all good

Had me guessing there Mick, thought ya might have been slightly concussed from a heavy load on your 454's. I think only a minor drift but relevant as all about affordability. Now popularity, PG and PPG very popular as cheap, Hang Gliding well many here started that way, last year saw 80 of em lots of them kids towed up for a comp at Dalby. If something cheap and green were to become available in 3-axis might see more interest.

  4. I think the age gap is too large recreationally. Only young 3-axis students I see have a career in mind. Flying with oldies is not that attractive to them. Face it if we are doing a trip to the Rock we have to plan stops for our Bladders not necessarily fuel. Most young flyers look to Hang Gliding and Para-Gliding for our shared thrill. They will most likely migrate to 3-axis later in life.

  5. So as not to drift on the Essendon Accident this Morning.

What are or aren't Town Planners thinking when they allow development up to Airfield boundaries without considering options for Pilots if the noise stops on takeoff. At Caboolture 06 or 12 are favoured as options exist but 24 and 30 offer virtually none. Unfortunately incidents like todays will more likely see the Airfield at risk even though the at least 3rd party damage/casualties (if any) are a direct result of failure of fore thought by Town Planning.
