  1. Trike wings :baldy:From my brief time in the RAA they could not/would not accept the concept of more than one wing for a aircraft, one of the minuses I mentioned in my previous thread unless, there has been a recent change. +1 for HGFA, -1 for RAA, but don't get excited as there are plus's and minus's both ways. WP.
  2. Hgfa to raa Just go onto the RAA web site and all the forms can be downloaded, the trike has to be inspected and the inspection regime can also be down loaded. You mentioned registering your new wing with RAA, the trike base will also have to be RAA. There has been moves to make the rego's and pilot certifications common across both organisations so that HGFA pilots can fly RAA registered trikes and vice versa but I don't know where that is up to. I started out in HGFA then followed my then CFI over to RAA, then back to HGFA with the present CFI, it is only a paper trail to achieve. Whatever organisation you end up in, neither is a perfectly comfortable fit for trikes, they both have there plus and minuses but keep in mind access to a CFI/Instructor for check flights etc, what is the best for you. I am certainly no expert but the above is from my experience. By the way how strong is the rumour you have heard re trikes and the HGFA, I haven't heard anything? 3. Controlling trike nose on trailer Re keeping nose down there is a couple of options, * Mount winch directly onto the keel of the trailer, * Install lug or something similar to hold the winch rope/strap down at keel level. I actually just tied a strap around the keel of the trailer with the tow lead through it, worked a charm, both winching on and letting back off.
  4. HGFA or RAA I have been a member of both organisations purely because of whatever my CFI was in. From my limited experience I feel that neither organisation is a perfect fit for weightshift microlights, but when it is all said and done the carry on with the HGFA is certainly not favourable. I am presently with the HGFA due to reasons mentioned above, but post September who knows.
  5. Anyone out there have a brolga prop and hub for sale to suit an Airborne 582 Outback? Crusty
  6. G'day everyone, I have been rather amused at the various comments regarding a choice of trike for guggle. My advice to guggle is talk to and listen to as many people as you can and do not make a choice on brand/model of trike untill you are well into your training. Be carefull of people that bag certain brands of trikes as there might be a hidden agenda in their arguments. All trike brands are good, it will depend on what you the buyer prefers, and you will be influenced by the brand/type of trike your instructor flies. If you are fortunate enough to gain practical exposure to a range of trikes, go for it and then make a decision that suits you and no one else. I fly an Airborne XT 912 Outback and am very happy with it but in saying that I will not put forward an adverse comment on other brands of trikes as:naughty: they are all good. Hey Wefly, as you are from Alice Springs, you wouldn't be the same person who imports and sells Air Creation trikes would you? Crusty "Happiness is a limp windsock and clear skies"
  7. Just read your thread. I am convinced I obviously put to much goo in each tyre when I tried it, felt like the front of the Outback was going to shake off on leaving the ground. It is winter and no thorns in the Hunter Valley at the moment but I am going to have toput some in my new 912 Outback before summer arrives.
  8. I agree with JayKay, obey the rules you will be fine, push the limits in either configuration and suffer the consequences.
  9. For sale - Airborne Outback with Streak 2B wing, 582 motor, the usual compliment of gauges, microair radio, headsets, helmets, stoneguard, strobe. Base 125 hours, wing 108 hours. Hangered Maitland, wish to update to XT. $28000, phone 0427383803.
  10. I speak Australian, does that count? I actually put that on forms that ask what is the main language spoken at home, haven't had any bites yet.
  11. Try NapiSan, this came from one of the Duncan's at Airborne. I have seen the result on a wing which was very good. If its good enough for babies bums................. Regards
  12. Have you tried "nappysan", Wingtech who make the sails and Airborne both recommend it.
  13. G'day all, I fly an Airborne Outback with tundra kit and streak 2B wing. Most of my landings are on grass even when bitumen is available and I find it a top set up. With regards flat tyres when landing, this happened last W/E on a grass strip. The left rear tyre had gone flat in flight but I still managed an uneventfull smooth landing without damaging the tyre or rim while flying two up. Luck or good management? I like to feed my ego and think it was the latter.
  14. G'day Daryl, I am a triker and live virtually next door to you at Mulbring and fly out of Maitland. There is a training school for trikes at Maitland, talk to them also.
  15. G'day Perry, I used the green gue in my outback with the result of excessive shuddering on roll out. Did you do a number of circuits first up to spread the gue evenly around the tyres?
