Indeed I do like the low wing brumby, thanks for the post motif it is really appreciated. I will go through the posts now and gather some more info.
  3. Quite right, I don't know if I want to own one yet however, I do want to own something
  4. The present is a result of the past. Bad things that happened to a plane in the past will result in its present state.
  5. Because I would like to go away for a weekend without having to worry about getting the plane back or booking too far ahead to get 3-4 consecutive days. I also like the idea of knowing the planes history :)
  6. Hi Guys, I am a new RAA pilot and I will be looking for a new plane in the future. I really do like the 230s however, not just this forum but some other sources also have concerns with the engines. There seems to be inconsistencies with reliability which usually points to quality control. I really do hope the issues get fixed as I think the 230 is a great little aeroplane and would love to get one of these however, not at the cost of a possible engine issues.
  7. There is a fellow pilot at our aerodrome who has nearly finished building his Bushbaby, I will get some shots of it when its done. It will be very interesting.
  8. Cool just bought it off iBooks, looking forward to the read.
  9. Hi Gareth, We'll done on your build. I like the idea of the UL engine, can't wait for some feedback on your test flight. It looks like you'll have a great performer there. David
  10. Thanks, just a heads up; it's still on your website for sale along with 2 others.
  11. Can I have performance figures on 7634?
  12. Yes I did recognise it. I went up Saturday thought he conditions were a little challenging.. 20 knot crosswinds at some point so I didn't get far. I am glad John is patient :) I usually fly on the weekends usually before lunch. I'll be there next weekend though I don't know which day yet. It would be great to chat if I see you there. How are you going and how many hours have you done? Are you up to just cirucuits or flying around the training area?
  13. Hey guys, I saw this post a few days back on another forum... have a read.. this guys has a Jabiru. --------------- Fuel for Thought Another gremlin has appeared lately; an especially destructive little monster which has started chewing on fuel tanks, causing leaks. Because formulations vary so widely I normally don’t like naming names, but in this case it does appear that Shell V-Power (98 RON) is a common factor in many cases. Indications are that this fuel (and others like it) contain a relatively high proportion of Aromatics: highly volatile compounds, including nasties like Toluene. Unfortunately, the sealant used in our fuel tanks is not suitable for use with compounds like this: Toluene is often used as a cleaner or as paint thinners and is pretty aggressive stuff! Most issues seem to occur in cooler climates where a highly volatile component like Toluene would make sense in assisting cold starting your car after it was parked in the snow all weekend – but we recommend that all operators review Service Letter JSL007, understand the content, the compromises and risks inherent in using automotive fuel. It’s strange to be feeling nostalgic about the “good old days” when the most destructive component of MOGAS was Ethanol, but here we are: there’s progress! Remember, the days of “fill and forget” are gone: there are many traps waiting to bite if you take the contents of your tank for granted. In response to the leakage issues we’ve started a new round of testing with a sealant which we are promised is the last word in chemical resistance: proof against fuels, volatile hydrocarbons and even acids. All going to plan, we will release this product to service as soon as testing is complete. Early indications are that this compound will also be suitable as a retrofit, to re-coat tanks currently using other sealants. In the interim I’d recommend using a 95 Octane fuel instead of 98 as they appear to contain less destructive aromatics. Of course, good old AVGAS is still a lovely stable fuel which doesn’t attack anything but your bank balance – but we realise that it’s not practical for everyone. ------------
  14. Sounds great cause - me too! I am training with John also. I have my GFPT and doing my recreation certificate with John. It takes a bit of getting used to with the stick on the right and the throttle on the left. I used to fly Tomahawks. I am doing circuits at the moment and am having a bit of trouble with nailing some decent landings. I have a bit do go also I tell you. Lots of fun though and I am enjoying it. I may see you out there one day.
  15. Thanks for the welcomes guys.. Any advice on a training school with some good planes around SE QLD? I live in the Redlands and am happy to travel 1 hour - 1.5 hours or so. Looking to do the cert and Nav endorsements.
  16. Hi guys, Just landed and very new to this forum. I live in the Redlands area in South East Queensland. I had done my GFPT years ago however it just got too expensive. A friend recently told me of the Recreational Pilots Cert and now I am back and am very interested in learning more. Regards Magishme
