  1. Yeah I think we can overthink things. We all know what we mean.....Don’t we?
  2. I think 120 degree is the correct term as 45 degrees would be a closed angle would it not?
  3. I have a Jab UL500. I land mostly on grass but my tyres wear evenly. Jabitru manual for the UL sayto set them to 0.
  4. Thanks coljones. With the rear camera. I have tried all that and more, there is a lot around on the internet about rebooting them. Ordered and fitted a new battery but still no joy. It's a shame because when it worked it was perfect with good signal strength and a very clear image, I would want to bag them too much I guess. I still have it so I might have another shot at sending it somewhere. I am currently using an iPad mini without a sim and adding a Badelf dongle. So far all very good. Cheers
  5. coljones I would love to resurrect and be able to use my nexus7 as a backup. Do you have any idea what causes them to go blank though? I hear they have charging issues but mine went blank while using them.(not while navigating) It's been sitting around for a year but I'm willing to have another shot.
  6. I didn't know any more than anyone else did (at the time). I was merely having a jab(no pun intended but I''ll take it) at the general bias in discussion.
  7. I have both an ipad(work use) and and ipad mini(mine). They are about average in size for the general tablet. I found personally the larger ipad gave a magic viewing size but I couldn't find anywhere in my Jabiru where it wasn't in something elses' road. So I just put it on the seat beside me. The ipad mini gives a usable screen size and it fitted nicely on top of my instrument cowling without getting in too much of the way. I have it on a fold down bracket to fully clear my field of vision when landing/T/off. Incidently I have had 2 Nexus 7s (1 a warranty replacement) and both went blank while in use, never to go again. Excellent while it worked though.
  8. If this was a Jabiru most of you you be talking up the"not another Jabiru engine out" angle of it at great length without a thought for any other possible causes Here you are all trying to find alternative answers to why the plane crashed. The engine failed, that's what caused it and the engine was not a Jabiru.
  9. I sense an element of bloodymindedness in this conversation. I too enjoyed collecting a backlog of reference material that was taking over my office space. We wouldn't skimp on other safety items, if you feel the magazine kept you in touch then you should buy it. I downloaded the ISSUU app to my ipad and when I want to read the magazine I touch the icon and I'm there (for free). Past issues as well as the latest. It gives me another justification for buying the ipad and my cleaning lady (duck, weave) appreciates the coffee table space as well. None of this is a revelation, I just faced the change and moved on. Yes I'm fairly certain Anroide has an app for Issuu.

    SP500 -6

I have a UL 500 -6 registered for 500 kg. (empty weight 296kg ) I recently asked Jabiru about uprating it to 544kg and was given a flat 'No'
  11. Thanks planedriver, maybe 10% might be a bit more realistic. Still too long though.
  12. D'oh! Yeah been there and done that. Now I'm back.
  13. Thanks Mike, yes I have been on the web having a look at some of it in the last few minutes. It's fascinating and a pity they don't seem to be able to settle on a sensible set of rules. Although I have always had a love of flying I have only just scratched the surface as far as getting involved in aviation and in particular Jabirus.(Usual late starter) I have a long way to go compared to your experience and I am only beginning to understand the complexities of this new hobby. Thank you for you warm welcome, I will watch your posts with keen interest and perhaps meet you some day if I can ever get to a fly in. Cheers Jim.
  14. Hi, thanks. It's a rebuild actually. The 'plane was first built in '98. I have had it for about 10 months. No pictures worth viewing yet but if I'm not too ashamed of it when I'm finished I'll post something. I'm trying to bring it up to all current specs. Engine rebuild, rewire, undercarriage, brakes, partial repaint, 12 channel egt/cht. I'm waiting on a custom vhf/uhf/intercom system. Having a ball. Tell me a bit about the Avocet.
  15. Hi, Just joined my first forum. Achieved my RAA cert in September '14. I have a Jab UL500 3300 that is about 95% ready and about 95% to go.(I've promised myself it will fly by July but I also promised myself it would fly by March)
