  1. Have to admit the RV-7 looks nice but pricey ?
  2. Hummmm Might have to look into it a bit more. I have a Double garage at home empty looking for someone to move into it and a j430 might be the go. but we will see. Might even take a trip to the bundy factory to see a j430 kit and just get a first hand look at what i am in for before i build.
  3. Only 6 months ? Did you find the build easy ? How much glass work is involved ?
  4. yes I heard the same about the 10% price increase, instruments yes..... Er... NVFR ;) either way 70 odd K for a Kit ? and I have never built one and do not know if I have what it takes. 70K Is alot of kit to have and not finish.
  5. Raa will have Aero's back soon Me thinks...
  6. Nah gave the missus away and the dog Just not keen on them, Why I do not know ? If I where to have a fly in a trike maybe I could change my mind but as for flying in one all the time, just not my cup of Tea I suppose not just a hate thing? Have flown a Aerochute before for a few laps and although it was somthing different I would not buy one of go out of the way to fly one. But some people just love them, as i said "whatever floats your boat", I know of gyro pilot who fly's nearly every day and loves nothing more, I am changing my mind on gyro's after getting into some real in depth discussions with a few pilots of them. Frank said it as well like or dislike it has nothing to do with airworthiness, I have seen more incident reports for 3 axis than trikes Who Is going to take me for a trike flight ;) OK I am going to go and keep my head down.
  7. Rang the factory about a month ago and was quoted $75K ?
  8. Oh yeah and have to say the better half has also been floating the idea of getting a j230 and building it with 4 seats so in the future we can have an aircraft capable of carrying myself and her as well as our son Julien and 1 extra which will come along when the time is right ? cost of the J230 4 seat version is $75K then you have to build her I like this idea
  9. Yes this is true, exactly what I am thinking. but money, practicality and other factors come into play..... who is selling a great jab for 30K ;) please call me ;)
  10. Yeah I know ? I might go fly them as you say. (gives me an excuse) ;) Whad did you end up buying skydog and what helped you make a decision and what other advice can you give
  11. Well My position is this We have not bought an Aircraft due to the fact we knew out trusty old hyundai would need replacing. We have since replaced it with a VE commodore and I use the hyundai to commute to and from work. Since I have my priorities straight I can now concentrate on getting the money back in the bank for the VE. Once this is done I can Buy an aircraft ? What can I afford ? Well this is basically it. I can afford around the $130,000 mark. I would love a Pioneer 200 Sparrow with 100HP CSU Etc but When you consider hangarage, Insurance, Fuel, Rego, Maintenance it will be at the end of my Bracket which will bring flying to the level of (oh would love to fly my pioneer but can not afford the $60 of juice for the few hours this week) which makes it not fun. Love the Idea of the X-Air Standard as it is Cheap, fun, Cheap and Cheap.... but the Draw back Is 45-55Kt cruise (no good for me relay but could get away with it) The Idea Of a New J120 is relay appealing ATM and I will say it is looking like a winner but recently saw a Jabiru LSA in relay excellent condition Old but not damaged in anyway, looked old but looked well looked after and apparently was purchased for $30K I have never seen an LSA for 30K around anywhere, for 30K you could fly and not be worried about the money side of things which keeps the hobby a hobby and affordable ? Which brings me to my next dilemma ? I have been burnt allot of times with used equipment of any shape or form ? and would like a new aircraft so this would be heavily minimized (even new have bugs) X-Air new $30 odd K ? used Jabiru LSA 30-40 K ? Which brings me to my next point most aircraft (jabs etc) you see for sale used go for about the 40K mark and have 500 odd hours on the clock. you need a major at 1000 hours (if it gets there) but for 58K you have a new J120 of which has a 0 Hour engine and 1000 hours to run ? Ah decisions decisions ?
  12. Yes it does, I am just thinking logically ? Could you imagine if we did not have to have a medical ? all of the older generation who fly there caravans around on a saturday arvo at morabbin would have there arms up in the air and rightfully so. GA would be basically dead if you did not have to get a medical. (well the lower end of GA anyway)
  13. I bet both my balls you will have to have a medical if you get a CTA endorsement in Raa ? I don't need them as I do not play soccer or cricket ;)
  14. Wish I could Get the Pics Done Properly

  16. Hi all, Myself and a willing participant DECCA will be on the prowel tomorrow in the trusty J160 for a flight around the bay Etc, will anyone be around who would like a visit on the way ? DECCA is secretly all Excited about the trip. He has been told to keep his hands to himself
  17. Sorry but have to say it, HATE micro lites  but flyin is flyin and whatever tickles your fancy (but we all share the same passion) BUT sounds like the person you where talking to was full of nothi'n he new which was nothi'n ? I have seen some microlites and they (as well as all other ultralights J160 to thruster) are as safe as houses. play by the rules, fly to your means and skills and they will give you years of enjoyment and fun with out hassles. And have to admit whilst I am a microlite hater I have spoken to a few people and seen a few that are more advanced as a 747, and in my opinion the Aerochute is one of the safest ? how much better can you get than flying with a fully deployed chute ?
  18. My two cents worth is this, Why would we pay 1-2K for a CTA endorsement which will allow us to fly into CTA when we can have CTA and as many PAX as we like with 3K PPL ? As I said just my 2 cents worth but this suits my needs and other people may have different needs.
  19. Ah good have been thinking all day I got up ya goat, yep understand, will have to have a think about a few things and get back to the other party, But for now can not see any problem with the arrangement, as long as it is for 1/2 payment, no reward as per the rules. will do some more research.
  20. The pics are not for sale. He has a personal interest in the area. I am of the understanding that you can ask for half of the cost of the aircraft, this is what I do for anyone who flys with me. I pay half and they pay half ? Turboplanner hope I did not offend you, was only having a joke about giving an Inch Etc...
  21. Holy snapi'n duck poo batman, gave u guys an inch and you went a mile ;) yes brent you are right I should have worded it a bit better. Just tried to keep it simple and not give a life story. I have a mate who is a proferional photographer who wants to shoot some pics of the apollo bay area. He has offered to pay costs equivelent to half or full, no proffit ( which ever is leagal ) ;).... At my most convenient time and place. This bloke is a good friend and has been flyingbwith me before but would like to take his big lense with him for some good shots.
  22. Hi all the title pretty much says it all. I am after a Gazelle for around 4-5 hours to do a flight to apollo bay for a photo shoot of a property. the Aircraft I use to use was sold and is no longer available to hire. Have been on to the Ballarat aero club 3 times in the last 2 days and have got the run around so not happy.
  23. Sad to hear, mine and my family's thoughts are with all his friends and family.
  24. Hi all, apart from here and the rec aviation mag, where can i find a decent 2nd hand aircraft ? Getting close now, have heard of some bargains lately.
  25. Hi all, Have been here but just in spirit, (need my own plane to fly more i think) Simon, just jailbreak it, it will be the best thing you do. if you want to install 3.0 in the future just wait a week after its release and the dev team will have a way to get round it (dev team are responsible for the Pwnage tool) or you can simply back it all up and restore to factory and you will have an original iPhone again...
