  1. Hi All, Well had my first Solo today, and what a great feeling it was. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. In the end, the CFI had to radio me to finish up my circuits!!!! Looking forward to finishing my Pilots Certificate now.
  2. Great thing too, 1 seat, guaranteed time by yourself!!
  3. Back to the point of the subsonex, it is a 1 seater for FUN and does aerobatics!! Cheaper than $1mil
  4. It will always be a personal choice. For me, I would love being able to get up and just fly around for no real reason. Best thing, 1 seat so get to go up by yourself!! But yes, if you were intending to go somewhere on a trip, then yes not the right choice.
  5. Like Others have said, it is a JET and aerobatics rated!!! Cost and Fuel burn, if I could afford to buy and run it, who cares!!! Best thing, only 1 seat so you also get to be by yourself!!!
  6. Great Adam, always love to hear from more flyers!! especially other student pilots.
  7. I think if you can afford this kit plane, running costs will not be a problem!!!
  8. Looks like a great deal, but just a year or 2 too early!!

    Subsonex

Nice, would love to see one flying
  10. That was my thought too Keenaviator!! I do feel for the pilot and owner.
  11. Let me clarify, the sonex airframe I believe is very sound. If I were to build, I was thinking of the aerovee turbo engine. I am not off the idea, but does make me a little uncomfortable knowing a brand new one had an engine failure.
  12. I hope we hear what happened. I was dreaming of building a sonex on day but not so sure now
  13. Thanks for clarifying AJ, yes, glad he is ok. We all want to know the facts, lets wait to hear before jumping to conclusions.
  14. Dazza I knew a Sonex Onex had just been completed, and went through some trials taxi's a few days ago.
  15. I am learning to fly out of Gawler, very close to home!! As I said before, glad to hear everyone is ok from both incidents. I would like to know more around the incident, re what aircraft, was it a first flight, ect.
  16. Glad to hear everyone was ok. Do we know anymore details? Interested to know what sort of plane it was.
  17. Agree all, will try to get as much in as possible, but all depends on the $$, boss (AKA Wife) and work. Hard when you work full time and have 3 young kids!! Work has been great as we have some flexi arrangements, so I can do some work at night from home, . so I am able to get off early 1 day a week.
  18. I am learning in a J-170, flying out of Gawler, just north of Adelaide. Learning through Adelaide Soaring Club. Great place to learn to fly, get to go over the barossa every lesson!! Instructors are fantastic as well.
  19. Thanks George and Alf, I was thinking it would take me 20 to 30 hours. I am 34 so yes, things take a little longer than a few years ago. Just had my 3rd lession and the basic controls up in the air are starting to come together a bit more. Cheers Scott
  20. Hi All, I have just completed my 3rd lesson. Just wondering, when anyone was learning to fly, how often do you try to get out and fly? I am aiming for 1 to 2 times a week. Also, once you have got your RA-Aus certificate, how often do you get out to fly for fun? Cheers
