I fly from a busy glider and training aerodrome. When I was learning to fly, I found it useful when there was 3 aircraft plus gliders and tug in the circuit to call downwind (left or right as aerodrome has some right hand circuits) and final, as it gave good situational awareness to the training pilots. For me, I would say the radio call for the other legs but not transmit to embed the circuit patterns into my head. But yes if you call each leg that is too much. Worth noting the requirements to for inbound and joining the circuit radio calls. Also note, if in doubt, use the radio too as I had a near miss just before christmas and the radio was what avoid a potential disaster. It is easy to say on the ground to other pilots you use the radio too much. But if it avoids a disaster, then I say use it.

Flight to KI was as smooth as anything, way back though was a bit rough. All in all a great day outing to KI and the Gala Day at American River
-
Thanks for sharing, great to see. Hopefully you will do this again and I can make it!! I am off to KI tomorrow to the Gala day, hope to see a few people fly in for this
-
Great to hear. Any photos or details around no and type of planes? Unfortunately I could not make it today.

Thanks, will share this with the club

Also remember there is right hand circuits if using 23 or 13. If you know where Gawler Dam is, this is the preferred inbound point too.

What's the facebook page called? Yes I also fly out of Gawler and knew nothing of it.

Congrats and well done. Onto navigation now?

Thanks all, lots of information for me to research. I will keep an eye on the classifieds too. While I like the idea of one day building an airplane, for now I just want to fly. -

Looks like a great aircraft, Price, yes an issue I realize I need to be flexible on my requirements. Main one is it can be put on a trailer by 1 person, and it is a recreation aircraft (Not looking at microlights or powered parachutes) everything else is optional!! Thanks everyone for info too, I will look into them. I am unsure of my budget yet but I would be looking at a 2nd had aircraft. If you hear of anything available, let me know. Thanks reat aircraft, -
Hi All, I am looking into purchasing my first aircraft, but as money will be tight, I would be looking for a recreational aircraft where it can be transported on a trailer and I can keep it in my garage, as I am only 10mins from the airfield, to keep costs down and avoid hanger fees. I am wondering if anyone can advise of a suitable aircraft where it only requires 1 person to setup the aircraft from the trailer. Some specifics of what I would like in the aircraft include - cruise at 90knots - endurance of 5 hours - 2 seats but open to single seat - rotex engine but open to others - easy to fly for a beginner pilot. Thanks

Hi All, I came across this article from the 2nd Sept. CASA will introduce new oversight measures to cope with the challenge of increased activity in recreational aviation Specifically, CASA intends to: introduce an Approved Organisations Model under Part 149 increase presence at events conduct surveillance of RAAOs based on risk conduct both scheduled and unscheduled surveillance on RAAOs increased audits of LSA manufacturers and importers centralise model aircraft display and approvals to standardise conduct assessment and oversight of sport aviation delegates implement safety campaigns Read it here: http://www.australianflying.com.au/news/casa-set-to-increase-recreational-oversight Does anyone know more about this? I could not find anything. Cheers
