I reckon Doug Evans is the man to ask now that Ross Millard is not around... Doug is here on this forum by that user name. He is based at Lakeside.

 

 

A day or so ago Sunrise showed dashcam footage from a truck which ran into the rear of a car which had suddenly stopped in a traffic-free lane, probably because he driver was lost at an intersection.

That fool Kochie said that if you hit anybody from behind, you are in the wrong.

 

Sorry Mr Koch LLB. The footage showed

 

1: Dangerous driving by the car driver for stopping in a clear traffic lane for no observable reason

 

2: An unavoidable collision between the truck and car caused by the driver of the car doing something the road traffic laws have been created to prevent.

 

The truck driver had a reasonable expectation that a car travelling in the left hand lane of a multi-lane road on the approach to an intersection on the right hand side would not just stop without any turning indication.

Could I kindly request that you hand your license in until you have had some retraining?

 

 

My flying mate Steve had the camera on. My Bixler Wolfe is the other ship in the air. The camera is a GoPro.

 

 

Bixler's are good machines. Very stable. And they last forever. They make great slope soarers without the motor too.

 

This is my Bixler slope soarer. I call it the Bixler Wolfe...

 

 

 

I could never in good conscience have put money in to this build to encourage the project to go ahead. It is all very sad that it got to this in my opinion.

Scotty is a dead ex USAF test pilot. Fact. He pushed way beyond what was safe and didn't know when to call it a day probably because he had an audience to impress. That is the truth.

 

 

And note... the only almost scale RC Bugatti was extremely unstable in flight and crash landed.

 

 

You can wish it was so as much as you like...it isn't going to change the fact that this thing was a flop. Did you even read the accident report? It wasn't engine failure that caused this or any other crash. It was pilot error because the aircraft was way beyond his abilities due to instability.

 

 

It was a cartoon aircraft. Bugatti just wanted something pretty. Why would anyone want to even see it flying when it is obvious it is going to have terrible flying qualities? It crashed upside down after never attaining speed or stability in flight for goodness sakes and was so impractical it was never going to be a "flyer".

 

 

I've been saying it all along. I am sad to see he died but you could see it coming from a mile away. The thing was never meant to fly.

 

 

Of course...you don't need a variometer to find and work lift...but it will be good to be able to feel it out more.

 

This video shows my flying buddy Steve launching his Bird Of Time...my BoT is already up there...then the two of us working some lift...until Steve loses radio signal for 20 seconds or so leading to a high speed spiral and then wing fold when control is returned suddenly... enjoy.

 

 

 

This arrived in the post today...only $35 dollars delivered. I remember 30ish years ago dreaming about this sort of technology. I never thought I would see the day. The future has truly arrived and I am in it.

It is not an aeroplane photo...but the letter confirming my Grandad's Brother was not coming home from the war...He was lost in a Catalina on a flight from Canada to Britain in 1944...Note the date on this letter. It took a long time to confirm his death. Such tragedy.

 

 

 

It's getting a bit tedious. Someone needs to bring one of these to market...and quickly. Anyone can build one in their backyard these days.

Which accident was that? Was this confirmed? I am not doubting it due to "stuff" that happened locally with a Morgan aircraft that I heard about from my former instructor. Just curious to know that anyone has officially shown this to be the case.

 

 

That overhead wire visible just before they started rolling in the first video looks interesting. You wouldn't want to be coming into land on that runway.

The C210 landing was on that runway. Over the wires...not under.

 

 

My mate Steve and I flew our Bird of Time RC sailplanes today. Launch method was 20 meters of 8mm surgical rubber...and 200 meters of bricky's line stretched to buggery. One of these Birds is built from a kit...and the other came ARF (Almost Ready to Fly).

 

I've got an onboard Variometer arriving this week...just like the full size ones. It uses telemetry to talk to my transmitter. I never thought I would see the day but this RC Vario has been on my bucket list for over 25 years. The technology is finally here.
