  7. Hi volmer, Seaplane flying is alive and well in the whitsundays. I learnt with a Drifter on Full lotus amphib floats and now have a zenair 701 on puddlejumper amphibs. We call it BOB as in Best of Both, flying and boating. Sometimes it seems to be worst of both. But when its good, its fantstic. Adds a whole new dimension to flying. Havent been for the swim Yet! Welcome to the Forum

  11. "Pull the power and they sink pretty fast" It certainly did.
  12. The aircraft landed in the dam to the left of the strip after going through the fence between the strip and the dam. I believe it is now a "lance" version. Note how I put the floats on when landing at lakeside, just in case.
  13. It was the small dam just to the south of the strip.
  14. Probable cause of crash. New pilot to the strip, fisrt landing there local gosip has it. Downwind landing which is normal for the strip, ie up hill. Heavilly loaded, six pax onboard. Too slow over the fence, stalled droped a wing. Into the dam. Just my thoughts as a long time local pilot using the lakeside strip. Very glad that everone got out ok. cheers Ian
  15. I was flying just north of lakeside today, about 4pm, weather conditions were perfect, light winds, smooth air. The only sink in the area was in the pond!
