  1. yeah, good idea to leave the names of religion out of it, especially when some religions tell you to take up a sword and kill all people who aren't members of that paticular religion. All that aside, how many people are members of a flying club? all of us, well lets all get classed as a religion and go flying.
  2. I have just decided that my religion is flying and if i get 19,999 other people to say this too, bye bye tax. call me mad, but is it not true? You can land at any recreational airstrip in the world in any plane, walk up to fellow flyers and have a chat. I constantly hear of American flyers staying over here with total strangers only to offer a place to stay over there to Aussie flyers. How many people have stayed at Oshkosh with American friends met through flying and flying forums? So what if someone says what is flying as a religion? You like things that fly and that's it, plain and simple. It would not conflict with peoples current religions. If you were a christian it would be, say hi to the clouds on Saturday and say hi to god on Sunday. If it was as simple as "I like to fly" it would cover everything from hot air balloons to anA380s or Jabiru J120 to a RC MiG 29. everyone could join. If everything we pay in tax when it comes to flying would go back into our flying, imagine the growth. My great grandfather was a test pilot for the Polish Air force, who built aircraft and performed aerobatics before anyone on this forum was alive. My mums cousin is famed for landing his Harrier on an Argentinian freighter when he ran out of fuel in the Falklands war. these stories have influenced me greatly since I was very young and I'm sure many people have many other great stories to share. Its in our blood to fly it brings us closer as friends and satisfies us as humans, I am currently building a website with a simple form to register people from all over the world. clearly stating that Their religion is flying. Thoughts from you would be great, PS, my wife tells me I'm nuts constantly, so you don't need to comment on this as it would be only stating the obvious.
  3. and as for the AR-6, imagine a larger scale, still 1 seater with a 3300 jab.
  4. already a member, what a top site. i like to watch video or see pictures more so than read as I am a member of DNA, national dyslexia association. pun intended.
  5. this may be more sensible for every day flying Engine+Technology I have never ever seen a yamaha 4 cylinder engine break down from standard use, how many people have seen an engine failure on an R1?
  6. Just seeing how much abuse a snowmobile engine gets in a race season, especially the ones who race endro in north Canada and Alaska leaves me thinking they are a good option for racy aircraft. I will try and find some more engines of this style.
  7. Thanks alot, I'm going to go through the Vari-Eze sites on the net. I am also going to buy the Arnold AR-5 construction dvd's, I find it so amazing that he broke the 1 square foot drag factor.
  8. It looks like a fat white pointer shark, and they have no trouble moving fast through the water.
  9. I was just curious as to why there isn't more people with tuned length expansion chambers on their two stroke aircraft engines. more power and better economy, seems like a win/win to me.
  10. Well Tomo, at only 17 you are in the perfect position to become an instructor and make a carrier out of flying. I may only be 25 but the best advice i could give is skip the whole party thing when you turn 18 and earn your stripes in the air.
  11. Lucky you are still alive bob. was that at The Oaks? Speaking of The Oaks, went flying on Sunday, perfect blue sky. were you about? Coz my wife got a few pics of everyone flying that day.
  12. They have a direct link to the Jabiru website so i think there is some joint work happening.
  13. I have noticed many companies offering various ceramic coatings for aircraft cylinders. I can see a few major benefits in using these coatings but would like to hear the opinions of someone who isn't just trying to sell it. Has anyone used it and noticed a big difference? On another note, I see ceramic coatings offered for exhaust systems, with claims of drastically reducing the exhausts outside surface temp.... wont this affect using heat and wont it take longer to de-ice the carbs?
  14. haha, I'm only 25 so i have a long way before retirement, always pays to be nice to the wise though.
  15. Ecoflyer Saw this in a magazine and thought it looked great. I can imagine many retired couples flying around the country in this cool plane.
  16. Aircraft like the Arnold AR-5 and many canard style planes are built using "Moldless Composite Construction" Does any one know of a site that features details of how to implement this technique to build aircraft, with good picture, starting from a foam blank?
  17. when it comes out I buy the "World Directory of Leisure Aviation" it has over 1500 things that fly. Starting from the bottom and working its way to the top. Look it up in google search and order it, less that $30 to your door. My wife calls it my bible, as I am always reading it. Knowing that there are 100s of aircraft in your price range is a good thing as you can get exactly what tickles your fancy.
