  1. This is my leg, its permanently broken and only the main bone will heal so i cant get it hit, the other pic is for shock factor and then there is a pic my wife took today of me flying at The Oaks.
  2. i will try that stuff, sounds like a good idea.
  3. wow a Corby, such a classic Aussie plane, reminds me of when i sold my FZR 250 Yamaha and got a Kawasaki ZX6R 600cc. sure the 600 was faster and so on, but the 250 left me happier and was very missed. I am 190cm and 80kg with wide shoulders, so i can not fit, my dream one off personal aircraft would be a slightly larger scaled AR-5 with a better motor. The laser Z-200 would fit better with a group project though.
  4. I was involved in a hit and run accident that left me on deaths door about 6 months ago. Due to some quick thinking from on lookers and being so close to Westmead Hospital my life was saved. Thanks to having a good wife and plenty of other support I am slowly recovering. I still can not walk without aid but have managed to start flying again (yippeee!!!!). my main problem is that after an hour of flying my back is giving me a lot of grief. The seats have the right amount of padding but i am 6'3" and rather lanky and feel the support areas are too low on the seat. does anybody know of any one who makes certified custom seats for the Jabiru?
  5. I'm starting to sway towards the "Rutan" way of building with Moldless composites.
  6. I remember hearing about some Kiwi flyers who were building an all metal version. does any one know how that went?
  7. What a great aircraft, its the perfect "shut up and just fly" aircraft. Having only flown a j160 and a drifter, I do like the open air for flying circuits but prefer to fly distance with cover.
  8. has any one seen this site, the construction technique is simple looking, similar to the Aussie guy "Pylon-500" The Arnold Company's Homepage this aircraft made bigger to fit us larger guys would be cool, I have a list of planes i keep in my phone constantly, the AR-5 is defiantly on this list. These are the others just to show what i like: AR-5 and 6 Flying-machines B-612 ATEC 212 solo spacek sd-1 minisport laser z-200
  9. I'm 6'3" and judging by the pics, the KR-2 looks very cramped with 2 people, I saw a pic of one guy who looked very big, he had converted it to just fit him.
  10. You have a friend building a KR-1! That aircraft is so good looking, kitplanes has the complete cost at $9k-$15k in $US. Does your friend live in the sydney area? I would like to have a look at this plane. That would be a much better "for the people" aircraft than the laser. And it uses a vw 1835cc so that would turn into a 2200 jab. How many people like the idea of of building a kr-1?
  11. The new issue of kit plane is a budget version showing some really good kits.
  12. Indy carts are using 98% ethanol 2% petroleum. the 2% gives the fuel colour when it burns and stops people from drinking it. As for the icing, EFI with a back up computer. Type "Tracy Crook" into google search and have a look at his work with EFI on a Mazda rotary and an RV-4.
  13. So i guess people will be starting to grow molasses grass on the side of their strips from now on.
  14. There are many problem with running even 10% ethanol in many aircraft, so how many people are planing to factor this into their current project? once your aircraft can run on the stuff without problems, where are you going to fill up? I see so many benefits to this fuel, the biggest "wow that is cool" is that stuff that grows along the side of/or makes up your airstrip. grass. sit down with mates, have a think tank and build a still to make moon-shine to power your engine. I watched a show a few years back on this old guy in Brazil, he was a crop dusting business operator who for the past 10 years had been running his planes on 100% ethanol that he got for free off his sugar cane growing friends he worked for without the slightest problem to his engines, due to the fact that the aircraft were set up correctly. What are your thoughts, remembering that we are talking about an aircraft that will run on 100% ethanol with out ANY problems............
  15. How hard would it be to get a bbq and 20kg of sausages and name a time and date. Then when everyone turns up, photos could be taken showing so many happy fly people having fun using the airstrip. Then submit the photos to people of power. Step one, who is going to name the date?
  16. you might want to keep those so you can make some swimmers, that turn into crawlers, that turn into walkers that finally turn into flyers.
  17. I cant wait till the day i get to fly such a cool aircraft.
  18. The fuselage fully welded is US$7,425, if someone already had the jigs, then at a guess if you cut all the tube, I cant imagine the steel and paying a pro welder being nearly as much.
  19. The idea is to get as many planes flying as possible, using groups of people to reduce the total time and cost. I want to see everyone getting good value. If you need to sell your plane due to ill heath of some other reason it would be good to do so and make a profit, but the actual flying part is the goal.
  20. if you could sell it for 120k it would be fine.
  21. 3300 jab would be cool, i like the balance of a boxer 6 engine. plus its its made in Australia.
  22. they come cnc cut to mesh perfectly, Not many people have a lazy half a million sitting around to by an extra or a cap, apparently this plane is quoted as the inspiration for those makes anyway.
  23. i think this is a good place to start.
  24. Laser Z-200 Aerobatic Aircraft Have a look through some of these pics. Laser Z-200 in the shed with a touring wing for far away fly-ins, yeah... that would do me.
  25. I really like the look of this plane, but I feel that my flying will eventually progress into aerobatics.
