  1. The Bushman, would be interested to know more about that system you refer to. How is it connected, what type and how much? Biggles
  2. Slarti, sacralidge....Aircraft are meant to be flown, not trailered. ;)
  3. Welcome Louie, Have a look at the Jabiru J230. Honest 120kts, pack a fair bit of gear and long range, easy to fly, cheap to maintain. Thats my opinion anyways......
  4. Yenn, I suspect you are right. I hope you read my comment as intended. To see how far we have come, when in the early days 500ft ceiling and single seats were the rules despite a pilots experience. We now see more and more privledges, although some are only exemptions. It seems like we have to prove more to get more, so be it. Keep on your toes and you will probably live longer anyway. Damn I love this flying caper.....
  5. Yes it is true that aircraft manufacturers and a large proportion of customers are looking for something akin to GA. This can only be a good thing for all. As one of many converted GA pilots I am seeing an organisation go from strength to strength in numbers and privledges. It allows you to fly rag and tube or plastic fantastic while at the same time belong to a family of aviators who are here to fly, not over govern in an arena of red tape and BS. I hope one day that we see night VFR or dare I say IFR in RA Aus. Before some start jumping up and down, I say this as an organisation we are showing the world that we can perform and behave like "real pilots of GA" (tounge in cheek).
  6. I have heard from a number of sources that the J3300 will only log up about 450hrs before the pistons and cyl get out of round. I understand there may be a problem with some engines that don't pull down square and this causes the problem. Like all you guys out there we have invested considerable sums into aviation, is there any truth to this being an issue to all owners or is this the old Ford V Holden scenario. I would be interested to here from others who have gone through to TBO without these issues. Biggles
  7. You too mate, I thought it may have been you replying. It was a good day, hope to see you when we fly into Ballina next. Regards Danny
  8. I think around $130 for a dozen 1qt bottles.
  9. Thanks Jeff, I have changed back to Exxon and using Elite also, I have noted a considerable drop in oil temperature, back to very acceptable levels...... I can't explain why this has happened. My fuel/oil supplier told me that as Jabiru engines have such close tolerances different oils can make the difference. I am more than happy with the results and am happy to pay the extra for this product. Cheers Danny.
  10. Thanks to all. Just to clarify, when the engine was brand new I used the recommended mineral oil for the run in period. I saw very acceptable temps through this period. After 25 hrs I changed to semi synthetic Exxon 100 aviation oil, I still saw very happy temps. Jabiru then stated to use 15-50 for all year round running, not just for winter. Since the change to this oil I see higher than usual temps. I used to see about 90 deg C in the climb at 90 kts, then in the cruise 60 - 70 deg C. As I mentioned I saw no need to do the mods prior to this. I spoke with Jabiru and they are happy for me to go back to the semi synthetic Exxon 100, as all was happy then. I fly out of the north coast NSW which does not get too cold so personally I don't feel the need to use a cold climate oil. Appreciate everyones input, feel free to comment further.
  11. Thanks quentas, no I have not done the mods as I was very happy with the temps when using the LL100 oil. All that has changed is the oil brand and grade, my way of thinking that does not warrant doing mods... simply go back to previous oil. Just interested if any others had similar......

  13. I own a J230, have been using Exxon LL100 oil since the change from mineral oil post run in. I have just changed to Shell 15-50 as recommended for all year around running. I have immediatly seen oil temps increase. In the climb it is now 110 deg C, and in the cruise, 100 deg C. I feel this is a bit too hot. Have had discussions with jabiru however would like to see if anyone else has a similar story. biggles 5128
