  1. You fly behind a 912 so 95 is just fine and dandy.
  2. Airsport should have a new Brumby 610 there now. Well I hope, it is only about 12 months late in delivery from the factory.
  3. Sure the same as my KTM1190, but I would be doing well over 200 kph. It depends on the size of the bike.
  4. I had a 1983 hilux 4WD, 2 ltr petrol back in the day, it was a 4 speed manual. It was valve bouncing at 125 kph, going down hill. It was flat out doing 110 kph. It still didnt miss a beat for over 100 000 kays.
  5. What ever mate, motorcycle engines can runs for hours at 75 % power. So can modern 4 stroke engine out boards on boats.
  6. Jesus David, do you have to be so melodramatic ? I am sure that Rotax isnt the only engine manufacturer in the world who can expect their engines to go from one maintenance schedule to the next. As is 100 hours with a 50 oil and plug change in the middle. I reckon just about any decent motorcycle manufacturer could make one. I never said a engine could keep going forever. But a well designed modern engine should get from one scheduled service to the next without need a valve grind or leak down test. I dont buy the old argument of a aircraft engine needs to be ran at full power at the start and run at 75 % in cruise and other non aviation engines cant do that.
  7. Hang on, where exactly did I say I felt that way? I SAID 20 to 30 something year olds. I'm 45 in April
  8. The modern 20 or 30 something year old are used to super reliable cars which work as advertised. All they want to do is get their vehicle serviced every 10 000 Klm or what every the service schedule is. The don't want to gin around every five minutes checking valves for this or doing a leak down test for that. They also want to fly aircraft with engines the same as the modern vehicle. There isn't many aircraft engine manufacturers out there that seems to be able to provide that product.
  9. As mentioned above, it is never a good idea to use the same LAME to inspect an Aeroplane that they regularly maintain .There is a conflict of interest, the LAME is never going to burn himself if he suddenly finds something wrong. The LAME you use should be independant of the particular aircraft.
  10. Blackwater were/are very naughty boys.
  11. Well not really, KTM is owned by you guess it, KTM motorcycles. They also own Husaberg. Some Indian outfit owns 14.5 % of sone back water KTM company hence the asians making the el cheapo KTM 390. I personally wouldn't TOUCH one, way too gutless for me. I am used too 150 HP. Anyway, back to aircraft engines.
  12. Well Bombardier Canada owns KTM but the quality engines are made in Austria, not like the Bundaberg hand grenades made here.
  13. Get KTM to build your engines. The only engine manufacture to win DAKAR for a very long time. Oh hang on, they are Austrian like Rotax, get Rotax to build your engines , they are Austrian as well. Do people see a common denominator here ?
  14. I have a 2003 KTM 640 adventure with only 17000 kays on it. Bought new . It doesn't leak any oil or anything, it runs like a well oiled machine. I did have to change a o ring behind one of the fuel taps(28 litre) tank. A few months after I bought it though. It has been great ever since.
  15. I have to say, I am pretty impressed with Mat Gardiner who is a Labor man from the NT, going to fight against ISIL. He is a ex digger so he knows what he is in for.
  16. The general Australian population need to take a deep breath and think about how bloody good it is here. I am all for the Liberal verses Labor argument, sure I have been known to carry it on a bit. It is just entertainment, other people in the world are more worried about where their next meal is coming from. We have to never lose sight of that.
  17. They were a small niche manufacturer back then. They are now the biggest manufacture in Europe. PS- i have been ridng KTM motorcycles for 15 years and they have been perfect to me. Ps- im pretty sure there are Jab engine owners wishing the same thing.
  18. Flying for me is a release. Like motor bike riding. I can forget about stuff.
  19. I dont read anything to do with Australian politics Nev. It is childs play, I am not interested. I keep a eye on what is happening on the world stage. Fwiw, I don't vote Liberal or Labor. They are as bad as each other. I voted last time for the 4wd/ fishing party, simple because they are trying to keep 4wd tracks open. Things that effected me when I was at home. I left the mid east a long time ago, but things are a lot worse now. I will vote for who ever pays the most in military spending plus under the table deals to pay "private" security contractors. You know, the ex military guys who get the job done with out bull$hit government intervention.
  20. Im not angry, just another ex military person who has worked in the middle east for a while who is frustrated with what is happening in the world and seeing politcal leaders sit back and watch it happen because they are worried about their own careers.
  21. Not a spelling mistake. Site, as in where he is standing. Not sight as in where he is in a"persons" scope. He has a very dubious past. Like most ex union people. Google it.
  22. Hello,I was in the RAAF as a Airframe fitter/Aircraft technician for nearly 11 years. All I can say is, good luck. You're going to need it.
  23. Abbott is a bit of of wanker, sure. But the alternative is a pro union nut ball who should be shot on site.
