In addtion, I am an Honours student from the School of Aviation at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia. We are currently conducting a research project on risk perception of pilots. The study consists of an online questionnaire, and we would be grateful if you could assist in the research by completing the questionnaire below. wilson290 Posted April 5, 2013 Author Share Posted April 5, 2013 Thank you very much guys. I am sorry to make everyone being confused about the difference between student pilot and GA pilot. If you are taking the private pilot license (PPL) course or the commercial pilot license (CPL) course, you would be classified as student pilot. If you are flying with payment or is not taking any aviation course at the moment, you will be classified as a GA pilot. I wish the above will explain the difference. Gnarly Gnu Posted April 5, 2013 Share Posted April 5, 2013 Hi Wai, (I wanted to say that) just a comment - I thought the survey inclusion of traffic speeding fines had little relevance. Twenty years ago it would have been but today at least where I live a speeding fine has no relevance to risk taking. At some stage everyone gets a fine now from your grandmother down to the revhead teenagers, in a desperate grab for our cash the tolerance of traffic radars has been reduced to a tiny margin over the posted limit and they are positioned on downhill runs and the like. Then the next step is to reduce the posted limits. Perhaps you could have asked something along the lines of "exceed the posted speed limit by 10 kmh or more". 1 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Bandit12 Posted April 5, 2013 Share Posted April 5, 2013 As a couple of people have pointed out, risk perceptions and behaviours will vary between those who do aerobatics and those who don't. If you don't know (haven't asked the question) who they are, you can't control for the differences and end up with statistical noise.
