Gayndah Aerodrome Reopening Ceremony.

Recommended Posts

After another great breakfast at Murgon with Ralph and Deb we all departed and arrived into a busy circuit at Gayndah where we were marshalled to the parking area.

We were met at the gate by the Mayor, Rachel Chambers and the North Burnett Council, David Wiskar who personally welcomed the flying community to the all new Gayndah Airport.

We were given sample packs and an order of ceremony upon arrival, and at 10.30 the official opening and tape cutting took place with local government representitives ,Ms Jenjifer Howard and Mr Jeff Sweeney.

Other airports in the Burnett Shire that have been upgraded are Monto and Mundubbera.

The Mayor and council made a special mention that they wanted the aviation community to return and utilise the new airport facilities and attend events throughout the Burnett Region.

To this end they will be advertising future events in aviation circles and confirmed that they will provide a bus / transport into town for groups who attend Gayndah events.

We were offered transport into Gayndah to have lunch and look around town before we were returned to the airport for our flight home.

Some of us flew home via Noosa and the Sunshine Coast for some radio procedure practise and change in scenery which turned out to be a great way to finish the days flying off.

Gayndah should be kept in mind for that weekend away or refuel stopover, with both avgas and Jet A1 now available.

As usual the photos say it all.

It was a great day for flying, and good to catch up with some of our friends and tour mates.

I can second that Gayndah seems to be flyer friendly and we're looking forward to attending the events they plan to hold.

Well I was going but oil pressure started fluctuating on taxiing to the runway. Went back to investigate and looks like maybe a crook oil pressure sender after 170 hrs????..but found my muffler badly cracked and about to soon open up so need to get both issues now fixed....no rest for the wicked :)

Yes it was a great day for flying.

Enjoyed the breakfast at Murgon enroute to Gayndah.

I had a minties moment (It's moments like this you need a Mintie) at the Gayndah gate, PUK introduces me to Rachel Chambers who proceeded to inform me of what the council can do for the flying community especially if we fly in as a group, So I asked Rachel what her role is in the council to which she replied, I am the Mayor. I then proceeded to cough spit and splutter for a second while I regained my composure. Where is my Minite.

Rachael and the whole council team were quite emphatic about supporting the flying community and asking what can they do. PUK and I gave her a few ideas with transport being at the top of the list. We explained that the biggest concern for us anyway is transport from any airport to the town centre.

I for one will be looking to revisit as soon as a suitable event or opportunity arises.

The flight home to Caboolture via the Sunshine Coast was as always very enjoyable. 080_plane.gif.36548049f8f1bc4c332462aa4f981ffb.gif

Best flying day this year. A good strip, but it fooled me I seemed to be taxiing in for ages. At least it wasn't busy when I arrived.

I was taxiing out behind the Storch for departure and then he was gone. Must have got fed up with the distance to 24 threshold so mid field departure from 06.

AB:

Thanks for the compliments for our baby. We are very pleased with it.

We were also very happy to go to Ralph and Deb's do at Murgon. R&D put enormous effort into supporting us flyers and we DO appreciate it!
