Pics from Saturday at Luskintyre

Had a good day.

Caught up with Andrew (Flying Dog). Ray (Tracktop) flew his trike over from Maitland when he heard me on the radio. Nice to meet you Ray.

Lots of lovely flying, albeit very murky in the morning. As I headed north it looked like I was heading into heavy rain. Checked the radar and couldn't see any. It was just the accumulation of murk. It all burned off in a few hours, and became a beautiful day.

Luskintyre is an amazing setup. Lots of hangars with lots of Tiger Moths in various stages of repair and build.

Someone roared past in a Mustang too. I was told it was Matt Hall, but he was supposed to be in Numurkah.

It was a bit quiet and not too friendly (could be just me), so after a BBQ lunch I decided to go to Wollongong for a coffee via Victor 1. What a great trip that makes.

Arrived in circuit at YWOL to hear "Welcome to Wollongong Ross" over the radio. Those AFRUs get smarter all the time.

On the ground I ran into Rob (Ultralights) and Steve. Great to catch you guys again. Then a bunch of HARS guys came over to talk Cheetah and sit in it.

Finally got my coffee and cake (yum) and a quiet slouch in the sun, then up the escarpment and home.

That's what it's all about. All on one tank too! About 4.2 hours and nautical miles of smiles.

I love long summer daylight hours.

Here's a few pics.

The field is huge and all of it seems usable. The guys treat it like an all-over field - just go into the wind.

sadly the video i took didnt work! the camera froze up, found out it was a dodgy SD card! Not happy. though some of the still worked ok.

the Cheetah looks awesome as always! would have turned a few heads on the ground down the V1.

Yes it was Matt - His Mustang is parked at Maitland. He is doing Joy Flights out of Maitland on 5, 6, 7, 10 and 13 Dec prices starting at $880 - Book RNAC office - so my newsletter says

Nice Pics too - are the from above ones taken from the new Nancy-Bird Walton tower?

Cheers Ray. Yep - great vantage up there.

It's a fantastic run Maj. At times the cliffs seem higher than the 500' you have to cruise at. No time to kiss your bum goodbye if it goes quiet though.

YSSY wasn't a problem. Checked ATIS to get the QNH and find out which runways were active. They were using 34L and 34R so I knew where to look. Didn't see anything close.

Cheers Rob. We'll have to catch up another day. Shame about the video. I'd like to see some when you get it working.

Mark video'd my landing when I got back to Goulburn. Glad it was a good one. I hope he'll post it.

"Arrived in circuit at YWOL to hear "Welcome to Wollongong Ross" over the radio. Those AFRUs get smarter all the time."

G'day Ross,

Mea culpa for the AFRU re-programming. Heard you come in while I was busy circuit bashing with a student in one of our J160's. Saw the HARs guys crawling all over the Cheetah too as we drifted past on upwind. Looked like your own personal crew of "Erks" re-arming the spotted cat for another sortie.

Cheers,

Bruce

Hey Tracky,Was that you departing Cessnock to the north overhead the Crowne Plaza early on Saturday morning?

I did visit Cessnock earlyish Sat morning, did a low level pass on 17 then departed to the SE:ecstatic:

I think Criso might have been over there too a bit later.

Hi all.

Yeah, it was a fun day.

Slarti mentioned the "lack" of family friendlyness. Well, I may pass that on, but THAT weekend was a bit of a shamozzle. (spelling?)

Usually things do run a bit smoother but with certain things happening they kind of gummed up the works.

If anyone *IS* interested, I have a video of Victor 1 from North head to about Maroubra. But it is BIG. It is AVI but it is not a quick video.

Shame I didn't pay attention and didn't get to meet tracktop.

Maybe next time.

Hi FD

yes like wise, I knew you would be around some time but my time there was a bit limited. My current experience level requires I be back home before the wind / thermals get up too much. Still there is always next time

Oh, and I shall appologies for my error. Slarti said lack of friendlyness - "family" excluded. I don't know where the problem is but I am working on it.

Tracktop, next time I am up that way I shall make more of an effort to catch up with you.

What I may do - if I drive - is contact you the day before and meet up with you at YMND on the way through.

I'm sure we can organise to catch up at one or the other.

My visits to Lusky so far have usually been early or late in the day and often mid week when it has been very very quite, so the other day was the most activity I have seen there. For my short stay I found the few people I talked to from Lusky to be friendly. My main exercise on the day was to meet Ross and FD if he was there ( sorry Lusky ) ( but the crowd seemed to be still growing when I left). - 50% achieved keen.gif.9802fd8e381488e125cd8e26767cabb8.gif

No doubt I will lunch with the tigers in the future.
