Pacific Flyer Monthly Photo Competition - May 2010

Recommended Posts

So ends another month with some great entries. While we wait for Angela to judge, announce and reward with her usual fairness and alacrity, why not hedge your bets and post some more photos this month?

Get yourselves a'snapping and a'posting so you can be a'winning and a'boasting.

Don't forget to have a high resolution version of your photo available for publication, and to send it to Angela at [email protected] when she announces the winners.

Also remember that if you didn't take the picture, the person who did needs to give permission for publication.

My effort.

I know it is not EXACTLY what you may be expecting, but it is within the theme - I think.

It is one of those "blink and you'll miss it" occasions.

Alas I didn't get a front on shot. Drats!

I think that I was the only person there who wasn't paying attention to the activity being filmed, but anything airborne is sooo much more interesting than what was behind me 024_cool.gif.7a88a3168ebd868f5549631161e2b369.gif

Whilst fly on Sunday I suddenly saw a WedgeTail Eagle go past my left wingtip with about 10ft separation. I too, didn't get a 'front on shot'. Gee, closing speeds can be frightening.

How did you "cheat" and make most of the photo B&W but keep the plane in colour?

A little selective colouring... a couple of layers.... and put it all back together!

Photoshop is handy - sometimes!

I've got to learn how to do that and how to do that "tilt focous" thingy.

Mate - here is a link to pretty good tutorial for the focus effect: Photoshop Tutorial: Add motion blur - advanced

(Hope it ok to post other links.... question.gif.c2f6860684cbd9834a97934921df4bcb.gif )

Happy to help out if you need a hand with anything. A couple of guys on Flickr have been experimenting over the last week or so... you might find some ideas here: Flickr: Temora Aviation Museum (the "effects" threads)

Ah yes some of the Cecil Plain'ites certainly captured some media attention today.

I didn't get the full story on the local WIN News tonight but in the screen capture on the News I did spot a chopper in the back ground. With the colour I assume it was the CH10 Chopper

Regards

Scott
