  1. I received a text from RAAus Tech that all my Nynja’s paperwork regarding w&b has been approved and will receive email approval to 600 kg tomorrow. Yeeha!

  2. The longevity of EV batteries manufactured since 2022 has shown that most will outlast the vehicle they are installed in & with CATL providing up to 2 million km warranties on their current batteries plus the ability to charge them in the same time or less than filling up a tank of diesel or petrol reduces the benefit of a swappable battery. Most of the earlier EV batteries are currently being repurposed for fixed storage but if that market becomes saturated or the battery is too damaged etc they are ground up to form black mass and over 95% of the minerals are recovered for recycling.

  4. The Plane was close to it's service ceiling and relied on the downslope to help it get back in the air It's a rehearsed procedure for that location. Sort of OK IF there's no climbers there at the same time. Nev

  6. I critically examine many aircraft engine in dept and they ALL have some design Faults No engine is bullet proof particularly piston engined ones. Rotax later motors are becoming more highly stressed and complex. People say Merlins were a great Engine and the highest TBO ever was 650 Hours . My comment wasn't generalised. It was related to the LONG studs holding alloy bits together that get Hot and expand at different rates.. Nev

  7. Every time Rotax is mentioned you say how badly designed they are and all the problems they have. Yet no one else has much trouble with them. Yesterday I was talking to my instructor about aircraft and he said 912 are bullet proof. He has thousands of hours behind 912 uls and has never had an issue.

  8. Or possibly he saw them, but the “I’ve got to get this rented plane back, so I can’t risk getting stuck by stopping” thought process took over. Another form of get-there-itis.

  12. Indeed your comment wasn't generalised it was directed at specific engines, well done on not admitting you were mistaken and handing out some general info as if it legitimises your specific criticism. You do this often.

  15. At 13,000 ft I'm wondering if there's a mandated amount of time you are allowed to fly in a regular aircraft, without oxygen. Maybe some hypoxia setting in? I would imagine you'd normally train to look for skiers etc in the path of your anticipated take off path. And that this guy just didn't see anything until the very last second.

  17. It is the design that will eventually rule. Why buy a fixed size and style battery that is a major construction part of your vehicle, when you could have the choice of sizes and styles of batteries, according to your requirements or needs? With a swappable battery, there will be no more having to scrap your EV, simply because the battery is at the end of its life. Buying an EV with a fixed inbuilt battery is like buying a BBQ with a fixed inbuilt gas bottle, and the BBQ becomes worthless when the bottle become out of date.

  18. The 110hp CA510 has no Rotax equivalent. It is fully water cooled, and does not require any air cooling of the heads etc. This explains the different architecture of this model.
