  1. Looks too complex, like all these weasly ideas they are more a curiosity by some who ‘think’ they can knock off the big players, amusing though using fancy computer graphics and painful music😂

  2. 30 mins res is not much gas for a lot of planes! Remember that the 30 mins had to actually be useable too, quite a few machines out there have high un-useable amounts. It’s seat sweating stuff to be watching the FMS and trying to ‘make’ fuel whilst en Route, light A/C fuel Qty can be an educated guess at the best of times!

  3. Fiddling with tank to engine selector/s just prior to take off is foolish at best!

A few machines I’ve flown over many years had aux tanks that needed to be drained/pumped into the mains if you wanted to access the entire fuel supply, on a long over water flight that was done as soon as the space became available. Short of a catastrophic mech failure engine stoppages are mostly due fuel starvation, often driver induced! The one thing I’m anal about is fuel

  4. “Parker Pen” hours used to be common!

The ‘true’ measure of hours should show up on a flight test, they are just numbers at the end of the day.

I could add up all my hours in my several log books and come up with a different answer every time probably! Mistakes get made over many years of adding. Once upon a time I used to love doing log book entries, we paid enough for them, now it’s a chore!🙁

To stay reasonably on top of the game means keeping yr head in the books year round & driving a plane regularly👍

  5. In the late 80’s I went on an around Oz trip with the new bride (bitch now!) and we free camped at the Ningaloo Reef just on the other side of tall sand dunes on private property, took two hrs off the main drag to get there. We planed an overnight stop, we stayed two weeks! Not a soul in sight all that time other than a farmer on a bike checking fences. Had a Honda SL70 on the back of the camper we rode that thing for miles along the deserted beach, mostly naked😂,best free camp time I’d ever had, would never see that these days! The good old days are looooong gone!😞

  6. I’ve been around this brown land a few times towing in the 80-90’s with an old XE Falcoon, was great back then, hardly anyone around at the remote spots, these days it’s like Coles carpark anywhere on the map, thank Christ I won’t be doing that again! EP is great but not out in the sticks!

  7. Most of todays A/C have a GPS of some form, that would get you out of trouble if yr speedo went for a holiday!👍

Pitch+power = perf. Few would get taught that and rarely practice it becoming ever reliant on the pretty glass box full of wizardry.

  8. Most speedo’s are inaccurate at the bottom end of the spectrum.

I only ever use them as a guide when driving my toy planes, transport Cat I take far more notice!

it’s a good idea to stooge around on a calm day at say 3K and record the speedo’s indications at varies gas pedal positions and pitch, know your plane without the need for a speedo👍
