  1. Condolences to Ross's family and friends, as well as our flying community in general. Terrible loss of a lovely bloke and tireless aviator.

I came within an inch of buying that one before and after - I still have a heap of photos on my computer... It was very well cared for by all accounts - wonderful with that 912. Glad you like it - I have to say that I have been having a hoot in mine - really great machines!

Nothing like cruising around with the window down for that hybrid Drifter feeling. Amazing performance after stepping out of the Drifter I will say also - which engine have you got?
  4. Like so many others, I'm interested in the RPL now and have so far heard positive things of both Adelaide Biplanes and The Recreational Flying company regarding their processes for RPC to RPL conversions. Does anyone wish to give a plug to any other GA/RAA schools (particularly Qld based) that seem to have the RAA -> RPL process sorted?
  5. I'm afraid I found that nothing but painful to read.... Yes, PDF would be better, but to just keep giving me what I paid for would be fine!
  6. If we're talking Sth Qld, then there is Cherrabah, and in SW Qld, there is Begonia Historical homestead, between Mitchell and Bollon. Both have websites and should be good. Am going to check out Begonia in coming weeks with any luck.
  7. Craig, Yep, I am in the club here - no worries if you want to head out this way. (and the Drifter you were flying was 55-977. I learnt in it and recall hearing about that trip) One of the members here has an S14 which I have been flying, as he is yet to get a license. Good fun little thing - I like it, but it is 503 with a the 31ft wings, so I imagine you have the shorter wings and higher VNE etc. If you need to see another, let me know and it will be easy done. Not quite as flash as yours. Funny - I have been on the trail of S12's for a while now....
  8. Fair call. I was lead to believe that the warp drive are cut down to size, hence the loss of the tapered tip??? The billy does fit straight into the warp drive hub, depending on which hub you have - our will. I was after the tapered tip for sure though, as they were hopefully going to be a little quieter than the warp drive, given the layout of the S14. I remember seeing yours - (From Gatton?) What a rocket with that 912!!!!!
  9. Hi Craig. We're about to bolt on a new bolly to a friend's S14, after the warp drive got damaged. Was a cheap replacement - will see how it goes.
  10. Well, yes, as I happen to still like a hard copy magazine given that it's a little hard to sit an apple imac on my lap outside with a coffee! Unless I have misunderstood, it seems a little 'off' having to pay extra for what I have already been receiving since day dot. Cut the wasted news stand copies, no probs there, but my membership gives me a mag that I look forward to each month, so find your savings elsewhere RAA or wind back the fees to compensate. Removing member entitlements is not an ideal cost saving tactic I would think....
  11. Thanks - looks like most radios are 'added' into intercoms rather than the alternate, which is a shame. Trying to avoid starting from scratch with a pre-wired A200...
  12. Morning all! I look to be getting an A200 equipped aircraft shortly with no external intercom. I am lead to believe that the lack of VOX on the A200 is a bit of a pain and as such, would love to add an intercom, such as a sigtronics or similar. I have seen this topic touched on with no real answers. Has anyone done this or can advise as to how the intercom is integrated? Is it an easy job? Any assistance appreciated.
  13. Yep, they sound great. Thanks RGMWA - will look into Kev.
  14. Just wondering whether anyone here has done a Rotax engine maintenance course or any sort and whether or not they still run them at Bert Flood? Sounds like a great thing to do. Very much wish we had a few more courses available around the place to pick up some knowledge. Fabric covering would be another one on the list!
  15. Dammit Maj- I should have taken that one when I could have!!!! Flew nicely! Reckon you could save a kilo or two just by turfing that old radio - what a classic!
  16. Geoff - very keen to see how you go with this one. I loved the look of that plane, but you seem to be now alleviating the only concern I had with it! Was very interested to see what was involved in that engine swap. Do keep us posted if you can! Cheers, Seb
  17. Yep, it does Ross. Gents - I have my wires crossed re the other one I mentioned - SRFC's is not the one I thought it was!
  18. Yep, you'd be mad to Doug.... Thanks Col - was looking for some details. It's had some ups and downs, but also some good aftercare I would say!
  19. Hi Mike -Yes he did. I saw it, flew in it and foolishly left it go, now sold.....Grrrrr. Thanks Col - is that the well travelled and multiply-rebuilt one? (Properly done mind you, not a criticism...)
  20. Thanks Tim - yep, hoping to uncover a GR582 somewhere!
