1. Im glad Im not caught up in this s@#t fight. I feel sorry for you guys that are & I know some of you have posted on the forum that you will continue to fly. I hope you guys really consisder your actions by posting your intention to fly an unregistered aircraft on the forum for the world to see not a smart move. Just ask yourself would you drive an unregistered car on the road??? . Remember CASA do ramp checks. Dont think because you are in a little rural airfield they wont bother you!

I think the longer this goes on the more likley hood the inspectors will be out in force. I know its frustrating but please stop & think! Hopefuly this will get sorted out real soon.

  2. That's really good ! Your extra fuel capacity compared to mine gives it great range (er, which I guess is handy in Oz :-) ) Mine runsReally well, although I seem to get plagued by punctures. (No jokes about hard landings, heard 'em all ! ) I'm just lucky like that........ I've been wondering about sticking some bigger tyres on her for rough strip work, not sure how much of a drag penalty I'll get.... Here's a photo..

Great looking Xair Bruce. I haven't had any punchers as yet all my flying is from sealed runways. My be instead of a bigger tyre size get a tube that has a thicker wall or higher ply rating than the ones you are using now.

    Cheers

  3. Ouch !! I can just about feel the pain in Scotland. My sympathies. You weren't stamping on the rudder pedal too hard, were you ?The Hanuman (or Hawk, as they call them over here) is indeed a great aircraft. I have always flown ultralights, but the Hawk is the first one I've owned with plenty of speed, legs & comfort. Has yours got a Jab up front ?

Yep I run a jab 2200 first test flight was march this year it has 21 flight hours. Cruises @ 80 knots Im getting fuel burn of 17 litres an hour at 2850 rpm that will improve when the engine beds in more. Climb is 900 ft min. these figures are all one up & full of fuel 70-80 litres.

    Did you build your Xair?

  6. Thanks Alan. Its good to meet people in person with whom you chat with on this forum. Had a good flight back a little turbulant coming back into mittagong the plane handle it really well, very pleased with how it performed.

  7. SAAA seems like a much more friendly organisation than the RAA, seems like everyone in it has a common focus on having fun.

Thats one reason why I decided to join the SAAA instead of RAA. Having Chapters makes it a lot eaiser to find out info & get answers to questions. Something RAA should look at setting up.

  8. Hi Jim, what's the chances of a controlled airspace endorsement for raa? I have plane with radio and transponder and all the bits. We should be able to do a controlled airspace endorsement, just my thoughts.

I dont think its a matter of the RAA to introduce a CTA endorsement, Its a matter of CASA changing the rules & I wouldnt bet your house on that one happening. My Xair is VH reg I have to have a instrument 8 every 2 years. to calibrate the transponder, ALT, ASI.

  9. How easy do you find operating the 'folding wing' arrangement on the X-Air "H"?

I haven't folded me wings as yet I have no need to at the moment. I think you would need 2 people to fold it the first couple of times ,but once you get use to it you would be able to do it by yourself. I think it would take around 20 min to de-rig & setup again. Ill post some pictures of the folding wing setup.1930357955_Picture018.jpg.4641563f625912454dd3f40463afe921.jpg

1st picture shows elbow & safety cable

2nd picture is wings all ready for mounting

3rd picture is the cross tube where the elbows slide onto the safety cables are attached to the 2 bolts in the centre of the cross tube.

    Cheers
