  1. Yip........i can see your problem pick the male..
  2. FT......... Not at all........not even alluding to that. just 2 reports of heavier weights and their outcomes. Just what happins if over weight and in challenging conditions / etc etc............i have no answers. Pilot skill etc, would be another factor to factor. maybe..................weight limitations were set by casa, regardless of crafts abilities.........maybe ???
  3. lastly.........know another chap, built several jabs, has the ear of jab........stated " load em up" if the wheels get off the ground, then it will fly ok. This guy goes back many many yrs, almost to the birth of jab.
  4. know a chap that reports loading his 160 to 600+, said the only difference to flight was longer take off, slower rate of climb, nothing else changed. Jab figures quoted must be conservative, erring on the side of caution. Interesting to note tho........600 in a 160, quite doable. ( but illegal )...........so's 65 in a 60 zone, and we've all done that.
  5. Several occasions we've ventured into some bush strips, Trees abound, strip shortish.........but winds / turbulence all over the shop. The LAST thing i want is to "float".....using up valuable length, and getting tossed here there and everywhere............i want wheels on deck, quick smart please. Love me 160.........
  6. the 160 and 170...........identical, except for wing length. So..........why the bigger wing ?? ( mtow etc etc.....same yes ?? )
  7. Rotax 912/914 powered, single seaters, 2 seaters now avail. Quite a number now working about Oz.
  8. who knows...........what the yanks have got, the Russians, the north koreas, china, middle east etc etc. I'll bet me lefty their cards are held close to their chests. Don't forget the big boomer stuff.......atomic bangers, for starters. Them p!ssfart jets, don't stand a chance, when it all goes pearshaped. Not to mention them nuclear subs, primed ready to go, lurking....who knows where. The yanks will be the catalyst for "others" to call them out, to pull their heads in.......or else. It's only a matter of time. ( the middle east debacle, being their latest c***up ) which dragged us and others into at the time. Now look at the mess that's getting worse by the day.
  9. will be stopping over at john storey's farm ( just north of kununurra ) strip about 1000m, then couple days home valley stn, then north to coastal regions. Lots of stopovers over the expected weeks duration. Shoot me your ph number
  10. this lil old brown duck, just tried the "converting" thing, as you mentioned.......ok, i've just fried me brain matter. ( admittedly i'm challenged there )
  11. why............GPS co ords.........150 37' 12.14 S 128 44' 09.96 E but using ozrunway cursor it indicates S15.626 E128.745.........at the same location. So............what am i missing here, apart from ........have tried "resetting" to another option within oz runway......not poss. 2ndly.......what is the better format...decimal degrees .... or ...degrees,mins,secs
  12. 2 yrs back, we spent 2 mths all over nz........loved south island. Noted quite a few strips available about the south Is, ( planning on going back.....and "flying" all over ) nelson, blenham, greymouth, fox glasier, 2 privates west coast, hamner springs, mt cook, wanaka, milford, ..........and many more. Being a small landmass, distances are a breeze. April/May we found more reliable, weather chilling off, mountain flying was more "settled".........( we hired local 172 with pilot for days at a time, and asked many questions, i'm now quite comfortable to go it alone next time ).........would LOVE.......to do in a helo, 3....5 weeks south Is, just exploring. Did learn last time there, just how many high profile international entertainment folks, and business moguls, have properties tucked away about that south Is. Most have strips as well.........of course.
  13. Sweers Is, 40nm off coast Burketown Q, great strip, accom etc etc
  14. well here you go..........an extract from a "PM" to me....... "I doubt that he will ever fly his aircraft because I get the impression that he's too scared to fly in anything less certified than a 737. I'm told that most who meet him, avoid him thereafter." Ol mate FT.............trouble maker, and that's a fact.
  15. gandy.........ignor him mate, most here have worked out he's just a stirrer. ( hope they have )......anybody actually know if he has aviation credentials anyway, probably hasn't.
  16. Fair enough......my area, around 96% are jab trainers. I would suggest, if this latest fiasco re casa and jab, had not occurred, then many prev jab schools would not have been forced to seek another manufacturer.
  17. Next trip, early 2016. Slight changes maybe.... In me jab....
  18. 80% of school training is done in a jab, they are the most .....by light yrs.....the most used trainer in Oz..... they are everywhere. Fly to any point on the compass here oz, middle of now where.........you'll meet another jab, doing exactly the same thing. Yes...........the engine does need "special" attention, no denying that......and that is being addressed continually.
  19. geoff..........i wasn't having a go re rag and tube.....not at all. jab and composites, their design, their product, has boomed rec flying. ( whenever i get the chance to hop into a rag/tube, i love it )
  20. Dead set.........a jab........( which BTW, account for 30+% of all rec craft in Oz ).......and we read this header here....."another jab goes down " this "tone" that gets bandied about every single time..............i'm puckin over the rubbish. Thankyou to jabiru, for designing a damn fine flying machine, at an affordable price........after sales service 2nd to none. The tenacity of jab to continue and improve their product, while constantly getting garbage emotive rubbish as shown here.......and elsewhere. the pathetic rubbish that gets said re jabs, bewilds me. Ask any of the non jab owners to accompany you in "their" aircraft, and you in your jab jab, on a seriously extended fly around......the pathetics will come up with excuses why they can't. These folks do the 100 mile stuff from departure point.......then have the gonades to say they fly xcountry..........wana bees. I will be bold enough to say.......if it wasn't for jabs, rec aviation would still be tube and fabric, and pilot numbers would be a fraction of what they are now...... so get that into ya................Grrrrrrrr
  21. Ok.......you're heading off on a long jaunt, why power your way to cruise height ???.....setup cruise revs, set up gentle climb rate 150....250ftpm max, and sit back........you'll get to height with no engine stress / high fuel burn, happining. works for me.......
