  1. while on the topic of CASA.........learnt today that any owners that want to engage the " marap' pathway, are in for a rude shock. Casa has advised no more applications are to be processed, and this situation could be up to 1 yr. this has well and truly thrown my plans to re engine my jab ( j160C ) with a camit, into the can't do basket. Just a couple of weeks ago, i was advised " can do "....easy as. ( rego was to altered to E24.... ) was actually setting dates etc, to get the engine changed out. ( chap cessnock way to do the job ) Casa are forcing jab owners to continue using jab engines, and just a mth or 2 ago, another brand spanking J230 ( less than 20hrs ) engine shyte itself, outlanded, tipped over.......a right royal mess. And Casa make it damn hard, if not impossible to wack in a camit...............it's got me stuffed.
  2. The " helo" thing is no big deal, have had numerous goes. ( lift off,hover, fly, land ) The " skills " any here would pickup easily. It's that.....or I'm a " natural " But seriously tho.....it's no big deal getting the basics of flying one. Perhaps the schools promote the " idea" to achieve $500 + per hr training. Now the fight begins.......

I for one, don't give a hoot re "spelling", in fact written "modified" can be amusing sometimes, I think more effort is employed to "modify" a word here and there, than actually writing it correctly........( however......."modified spelling" has it's place.......eg, here ) Now the fight begins...........
  6. have received good news regarding installing a camit into 24 reg jabs. ......Can do, Prefixed "E 24". Am told several already done, Raa sanctioned. A 25hr initial "proving period" is required at this point, then all's good. Now waiting on "detailed" directions etc etc...........then picking up the ph to camit. ( i wunder if injecting it ( EFI ), might be pushing my luck. ?? Feedback re EFI is all positive to jabs.........let's see.
  7. guy was mustering.......that means real low, in amongst the trees, thermals,willies,dust,wind sheer,rotor, .....just to name a few. An inviroment where danger is all around you. sad news indeed, condolences to family and friends.......russ
  8. just repeating to be clear...........i called entering and back tracking........i was approx 1/3rd down the runway when ol mate calls joining circuit etc etc etc, then i called to make contact, nothing came back, then he appears in my vision 2 oclock ( i'm in me jab, so rh wing was obscuring vision for a time ) i call again, he calls turning base, i call again...nothing, he turns final, i call, he tells me to vacate........i politely ( sort of ) tell him to pull his head in and go around. When he turned base, i was expecting him to then either ....come down the dead side, or.....do a RH turn and extend his downwind......he actually deviated, and flew down the deadside. maybe...........he having 2 engines, the rules are different for him...........yea right.
  9. language.........i was being polite to the tosser. Runups.....i do them on the run, less chance of sucking a stone etc as i'm moving along..........(my view)....looking after me prop
  10. wasn't dawdling, it's a bloody long runway, and i start my rolls right at the ends. His manner irked me, hence my response, would have obliged and pulled off if his manner was different. Why he ignored my 3 calls ?????. When he turned base i actually expected him to either come down the dead side, or resume a modified downwind leg.

Ok.......you give entering and backtracking runway ********, alls good, 1/2 way down back tracking another aircraft calls he's joined downwind circuit for same runway, all's good, i continue my path, he calls turning base, then he's on final. I'm still back tracking, 100m to turn around, line up and go.......he's now on short final.......i finally get him to return my 3 attempts to make contact with him, he get's uperty telling me to clear the runway.......i tell him to pull his head in, and do a go around, and remind him, he ignored all my previous calls to him, beginning right after he called down wind.............so........was i wrong, should i vacate the runway ????

  13. Ok.....my 2 bobs worth, when i first got my 160, CHT would climb HIGH in the green, so stepped climbs it was. My only sensor was on the LHR head. Acquaintance put me on to "his" mod.......so we redesigned my lower cowl lip ( pics attached )...........since this mod, i can maintain full power climbouts till i reach the moon, same sensor,same place, my temps hold mid green. In cruise temps are JUST in green. Seems to work............BTW, i'm just sayin here......im not suggesting you all do it.............disclaimer
  14. Thinkin not out loud............. Shut the canberra office down...........gawn. Each state puts together their own management team, Funds......the curly bit, current status is easy to work out, divide total membership into that pool of funds, then each state receives "that amount" per state member. Sell off current holdings, then that $$ is issued to each state, to set up their own office. each state could manage their own full time employee, and volunteer office bearers set agendas etc. Maybe.......twice a year, all office bearers get together, but regular contact is ongoing ( video conferencing etc ) Running this canberra office, is one hell of a drain on funds, and yrs gone by, saga after saga, and still do this day, nothing has come out to members just how bad Raa was run. just sayin.......
  15. A great stop over place, shady trees to camp under, toilets. Only prob.......fuel is several km away in town......nice town tho. Have dropped in several times enroute

  17. avoiding steps/ladders may not be poss, ........still have to reach to filler cap ( way up there ) and in jabs case, undo with allen key.

  19. McQuires.........."Plastx"........ works a treat....supercheap sell it. Plexus......marine grade...any good boat shop. This i use after, and as a cleaner often. in combination they do a great job.
  20. 500+ hrs in me jab...( hyd 2200 ) hasn't even sneezed. Done many extended trips, stinking hot ambients at times ( 40+ ) monitor CHT, fly accordingly......( step climb etc ) Run avgas, dosed with Moreys, modify lower engine cowl lip. Just these 3 things seem to aid matters.....IMHO.........BUT, waiting, waiting, for a CAE cert engine.
