Enjoy, you should be pleasantly surprised by how much of the flight you actually get to do. Much more than a fortnight between lessons and your rate of progress may be slowed significantly. Let us all know how you go Phil

Taking ya mate for a fly think twice
Piet Fil replied to Steve Donald's topic in AUS/NZ General Discussion
Really Bex! So you can prove you have a better education than someone else who is expressing pain, suffering and disappointment. Well done buddy for showing that education doesn't equate to a sense of humanity and compassion Disappointed Phil -

First flight without my instructor
Piet Fil replied to Pilot Pete's topic in Student Pilot & Further Learning
Well done Pete, you'll be dodging clouds in that nieuport of yours in no time! Keep on enjoying that learning experience. Phil -
Well done Ayavner, It's the next flight, when you can really enjoy the flying without the impending assessment hanging over it, that I really loved. Enjoy it all with your license to learn Phil:clap:

Congrats Ivan, It's a great feeling, isn't it. It only gets better from here, enjoy what that certificate allows you to do! Aviate! Try to fly your best at every moment. Holding yourself to your own high standard is what will make you a good aviator. Enjoy! Phil:clap:

Scot, that is looking great, it must be so satisfying seeing it coming along so well. You have inspired me to empty the garage and re-pack to try and get enough space to build another construction bench to do wing spars and fuse! Crack on I say! (You'll be needing those welding skills sooner rather than later at this rate) Phil:clap: -
Great stuff Camo, it's an awesome feeling isn't it. Enjoy

Good luck with the test on Wed Ivan, think of it this way it's really just another flight with your instructor doing a sequence of tasks he'll put to you ..... Perform them competently and you'll pass. Make errors and you get feedback from the instructor on what you need to practice and get to fly with him again. Whilst a milestone (and a great one) its just one assessment in your career of flying self assessments. Just strive to fly as best you can every time you get in a plane and you'll do fine. Enjoy it Phl

Barney, I'd be interested in one, they're an ideal match for the pietenpol air camper i am building, but I still have a few years to go, so I am In no rush. Having said that i would jump early for the engine if the opportunity presented itself. Phil

Vote of No Confidence in RA-AUS Board!

It may just be you, the rest of us won't know unless you provide more information rather than just try and bait another inflammatory discussion without providing some actual points for discussion. Phil -
EOI for a Welding course
Piet Fil replied to Bubbleboy's topic in Aircraft Building and Design Discussion
Scotty, I have a mate in Canberra who would be keen on doing the TIG course but he's not available school holidays 20 Sep -07 Oct. Was this the period you were thinking for the course?? Phil -
I must say it was great flying weather over the last couple of days, so you picked it well. I popped over to the adaminaby fly in yesterday and the morning air was smooth! Phil

Piet Fil replied to Bubbleboy's topic in Aircraft Building and Design Discussion
Scott, I'm a definite starter. Welding background is I did a lot of welding 20 years ago as trade - metal fab, light and heavy plate and pipework withTIG, MIG, MMA and oxy. Sadly haven't done much in recent times. A bit of oxy and mma but not much. Phil -
Post lots of photos, ask lots of questions, there's help and experience aplenty on this site Phil

Marc, I'd be keen for an e-copy of both the D-H texts as well. Let me know if they are able to provide soft copies. Phil

You would use a lot of 100 mile an hour tape to "apache" it up!
